I'm pretty excited. I ordered a barebones kit yesterday for post processing (and for other stuff, I guess - or so my wife believes)...and I can't wait to see the perfomance boost using Photoshop/Lightroom/RSP, etc.
-Intel Pentium D 830 3.0GHz / 2MB Cache / 800 FSB / OEM / Socket 775 / Dual-Core / Processor
-250GB Serial ATA HD 7200/8MB/SATA-3G
-500 Watt power supply
-3 Gigs of DDR2 RAM (upgradeable to 16 Gigs...someday)
-Nothing great on the video card, but it'll get me up and running temporarily...EVGA GeForce 6200 LE / 128MB DDR / AGP 8x / DVI / VGA / TV Out / Video Card
-Plus a CPU fan (wahoo!!!), DVD Burner, All-in-one Media Reader (for the 3.5" bay)...
That'll give me about 3/4 Terabyte of disk space available on my network. That should be ok for now.
This will (hopefully) be a nice (and relatively inexpensive) upgrade from the PoS (circa 1996) computer that I have been painfully using.
Now only if I had some photography talent mixed in with some PP skills to go with my hardware!
(Can you buy that online?) |

Good looking machine. Very similar to what I currently have. You should see a big difference in Photoshop, buy don't hold your breath on Lightroom. One of the biggest complaints is that it is a rather slow program. The all in one card reader is so much faster than any other method using USB only Firewire is faster. What OS did you get. Would like to here what you think about Vista, if that is what you have. |

I'll be slapping my version of XP into this thang. It didn't come with an OS, and I had already bought XP for another machine, so it should do fine.
Haven't messed with Vista yet. |

Thats about my specs too, and everything I do runs fine including games @ 1440x900.
Athlon64 3200+
1 gig DDR
Radeon X700 256 pci Express
I do want a new video card but I gotta replace my weak power supply first |

One hand types faster then the other and that accounts for 75% of my mistakes. If you can't or refuse to read it thats fine with me! |
