Manfrotto fixed the biggest problem with the 3021 tripod -- the changing of the center column from horizontal to verticle is a pain in the bum!

The new 190XPROB is the answer to my dreams

"The Bogen/Manfrotto 190XPROB Tripod Legs builds on the success of the 3001 series and replaces the 3001PRO model. Its horizontal center column feature has been redesigned to make it even easier to flip from vertical to horizontal. Now, by extending the column to its highest vertical position, it can be swung over to horizontal without removing the head or disassembling the column itself. The ergonomics of the leg angle release mechanism and the quick action leg locks have also been improved. "

Thank you! I knew they would have it somewhere, but Bogen's website sucks! lol

I use mine TONS - specifically when I need to shoot DOWN on something.

Only a little bit to get away from tables or to shoot straight down.

huh, really?

I thought the option was neat, but I used it only twice, and have it for over a year now.

oh well. I hate tripods anyway :P

Now if they'd put that on a tripod the height of the 3021, I might just have to buy another tripod!

I might just ebay my 3021pro and grab this one in the next few weeks. Sure would be nice to have that mobile center column --- and its lighter. I'm only 5'2" so the height is fine with me.

Does anyone else feel dirty when they slide their mouse up and down the picture?

Its not dirty unless you keep going back to do it again! ;)

That's pretty spiffy, but is it really that much of a pain to switch the 3021pro? I find I'm only doing it once in a session because I'm not switching back and forth that often.

Oh bother, that makes last week's purchase seem to be really well timed!!

Got an 055MF4, partly because of the horizontal arrangement which I didn't have on the 055CL I had before.

I guess I'll have to start looking for an excuse to buy another set of legs, then.

turn the head off is a pain, and turning it back on too :(

Maybe I just don't do it as often as everybody else. I mean, ya, I wish I didn't have to, but I'm not gonna get a new tripod over it. Your mileage, however, may vary. If you are doing product shots where you are going back and forth all the time, I'd think this would be pretty cool.

This is interesting timing as I've nearly pulled the trigger on buying one of these (3021Pro). When I looked at the illustrations, and read about it, it appeared that to switch from vertical to horizontal required unscrewing the cap on the bottom of the center column, slide the center column out, put it in the vertical position, then put the cap back on the bottom of the center column.

Why would you take the head off? Do you have to? I wish there was a store around my area where I could check this out in person. :(

Yes, it requires you to remove the head to change the column direction. You can't slide the column out the other direction because of the clip that allows you to hang weight; its not removable.

oh is that to hang weight on! haha! I never knew that!

IF THEY JUST LEFT THAT CLIP OUT OF THE WHOLE CENTER COLUMN, THERE WOULD BE NO PROBLEM :p

oops caps. sorry!

I've been tempted a couple of times to bring the Dremel out and take care of it but I keep stopping myself.

Mostly the nagging thought in the back of my head saying the minute I cut it off I'm going to want to use it.
