I'm entering my first ever local juried competition! But I'm having trouble coming up with a title for this shot (they all have to be titled):
I called in Leaf Bug for the free study a while ago, but I'm not really sure it's actually a leaf bug--and I'm fairly certain that that's not a fabulous title.
Anyone got anything better??? |

It's a Big World for such a Small Bug!
I know I suck at titles.

Well, to me it looks like a faceted jewel... and the grass reminds me of delicate lace.... "Emerald on Old Lace"? A new direction of thought, at least? |

Thank you thank you! These are much more along the lines of what I was trying to come up with.
Why my brain malfunctions when it comes to making titles, I'll never know **blames being a blond** |

Thank you so so very much for all of the wonderful suggestions!
After changing my mind about 50 times, I settled on "Emerald in the Rough."
I've got two photos in the contest and they'll be on exhibit from Feb 24 to March 4. The actual judging takes place on March 4th, so I'll have a little while to chew my nails before I hear anything at all. Jeez, and I thought waiting a week for a challenge here was hard!!
No idea what to expect, as this is the first time I've ever entered a juried competition like this. Likely my images will be blown out of the water by several hundred college students majoring in photography or something like that.
But it should be a good experience all in all.
I'll keep you posted if/when I hear anything!
Thanks again!! |

A stinkbug?!?!?!
Wow.
I'm really glad I took a picture of him instead of squishing him :-) |

Yeah LOL but just because they smell don't mean they aren't pretty :)
I love bugs, it is kind of an obsession for me :)
Did you check out my "Big Daddy" photo?? :) hehe
Oooohhhh is there a bug thread around here somewhere?? I may start one :)
