Please bear with me, I will try and explain this as best I can :) I recently purchased a new Canon 30D and this morning I went and took a few shots in RAW. When I view the picture previews, or try to open the photos using RAW Shooter Essentials, each photo shows up as 4 versions of the photo, in 4 different colors. I can't seem to view the photos the way they appear when I view them on my camera. Anyone have an idea what might be going on?

Do you see four files for each exposure? Or just something in RS? Can you post a screen shot if so?

RSE is trying to interpret the file, but it cannot, because it does not understand the 30D's RAW format completely. You'll need a converter that does. You have the Canon Digital Photo Professional (DPP) converter that came with the camera.
Edit:
Adobe's ACR converter v. 3.6 and 4.0 (part of Photoshop CS2 and CS3 respectively) also understand the 30D files

I can't find anywhere on the camera that I can even use 4 files for each exposure. I'm sure the problem is something that I am doing wrong, I just can't figure out what lol. |

I bought a Canon 30D in January and am using Digital Photo Professional, the software that came with the camera, for my RAW images. It is really easy to use and does everything I need it to do.

You need to listen to kirbic. The program you are using is not able to open these file sproperly. YET.. theyll get around to that cameras spec.
The best thing todo is to use the program from canon that came with the camera. |

Download the free trial of Bibble.
www.bibblelabs.com
This is a really nice way to work with a lot of RAW files. Does almost everything you need for many, for others, you can then convert and launch your favorite editor.
I use BibbleLite as well as RSP (but now RSP is defunct).

I think it's gonna be phased out by Adobe before it is able to use 30D files... which is too bad.

I had the same problem when I got my 30D .
Try and download the last version of RSE.
They did release an update so it will read the raw files from the 30D.
Try here //www.photo-freeware.net/raw-shooter-essentials.php
Hope this helps |
