Mr_Pants has this image which was supposibly taken with a SiPix Blink camera that is 0.3 MP and a Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM lense...... Tell me how that lense works on this camera... and manages to take that picture. Last time i checked cameras of that type have no shutter or exposure control.
Camera - SiPix
Picture
If its true let me know cause thats a kick ass exposure for a 0.3 mp lol
He supposibly also did this image with the same camera......

Why don't you PM AJ and ask him.
ETA: AJ is one hell of an artist and I wouldn't call him out like that I might have used a little more tact.

0.3 mp? ... I think not.
Mind you ... the image you are looking at (the vacuum cleaner) is only 144 K.

He probably has that camera and lens as his default in his preferences and not change when submitting. He has a canon eos 1D.

Oh, it's soo simple... he duct taped the lens to the camera and replaced the sensor with that out of a 1Ds mkII... duhhh.

Does it matter? It's obviously not the right camera, but it certainly doesn't ever say that you HAVE to tell people exactly what camera you used.
He's joking; get over it. |

Frankly, if these are challenge entries (and they are) then I think he SHOULD have to say what camera he took them with. If he lists the wrong camera then isn't that almost as bad as falsifying EXIF data? I think SC should look into this and perhaps make a new rule that you must list the camera used to take the photo.

In what way is it like falsifying EXIF data?
If asked for the original image he'll still submit the orginal image. |

Which not to be a big A, but honestly you should. Side Challenges for Poitn and Shoot Only (cant really have official ones cause not everyone owns a POS... i mean P&S) but those types of challenges rely on the camera being the right one.
But that aside someone who purposley does not list their camera at all and then submits all photos on purpose witht the wrong and most rediculous camera he can think of or may have owned... is just being plain silly. |

Dosent matter what I list or he lists the exif data is intact and if requested will show the truth. So who really cares if he lists it or not. We are not required to and has no Bering on the exif data. |

However if someone (YES I KNOW HE DIDNT AND WOULDNT) stole someone elses image that has a date within the time frame. The EXIF data identify's the camera, if hes not listing that camera then something could be wrong....
OF COURSE THATS NOT THE CASE... im just saying.. im sure its a long running joke for mr AJ that ran out when they stopped making the SiPix. |

What he is doing is messing up the DPC stats. Now those photos are listed as being taken with that camera on that camera's page which is not true. Perhaps he is trying to "own" a camera as I see in the forums some people claim bragging rights when they "own" a camera or lens (meaning all of the top photos taken with a certain camea or lens are their photos).

SO means nothing because cheating is cheating. There is no way to police every eventuality. |

I don't see why it should be a requirement, or why people care that much.
The ONLY truly required field for submitting (according to SC, mentioned in forum postings) is the date. The only reason you can't leave the camera blank is because it's a dropdown.
As long as the photo can be validated by SC in the event that it needs to be, it could be taken with a digital pinhole camera that was built in your basement and listed as the Gigapixl camera. |

You have proof then I suggest sending a note to the SC.

And if I were to buy a brand new (unlisted on DPC) camera on the day that a challenge ended, take my picture and submit it... what, it would be disqualified because it didn't match what was on my profile?
This is a ridiculous argument. |

If that's the case, then he seriously needs to get out more. |

Slightly more ridiculous. =)
Honestly though, if you have different gear than what you list, what's the harm? I like to see what people take with their D50 and certain lenses. During the challenges (well more after the challenges) I really don't pay any attention to it. Its end result and the process I'm interested in, not the tools used to create it.
*edit to include link to the camera*
