Anyone really good with programming (PC Code)?

This might be simple--
I want to play a very old game in widescreen-- it defualts to 800x600
I copied the config file (Direct X)-- there is also a game config file but its just player names scores, etc..
My goal is to have the game displayed in 1440x900
heres the details.

any thoughts

Now I have been to widescreen gaming forums, but my registration is taking forever, anyone have a stab on what to change?

BTW just changin the selected res doesnt work..

Change

SelectedResolution=640x480x16

to
SelectedResolution=1440x900x32

Change
UseSelectedResolution=0
to
UseSelectedResolution=1

That might do it.

Yeah I tried that-- changing to 1440x900 and changing selected to 1-- no changes happens.
is it something with the top 2 setting?

It may be in the game config I would suspect. You said that this was the DX config?

yeah within the game folder I have 2 config files, the game config doesnt show graphics options, hang on ill post it-- It might not be possible , there is defintly no menu within the game for any video change.

What is the native desktop res you have set? Some games will not run at a higher res then the desktop is set to run. If you have the desktop set to 1440X900 16 or 32 you can try to force it with the line
UseSelectedResolution = to 49 for 16 bit or 50 for 32 bit, Not sure if you need the 0 in front so 049 or 050.

Other things to look at are the version of direct X you have installed see if there is a newer one out. I think you want direct X 9b and you can try to run dxdiag to test your direct X drivers. the config shows you have a RADEON X700 Series card, you might try instlling the latest ATI drivers as well.
