My daughter had her's removed, plus grommets, when she was about 5 or 6. Anyway in the ward they turn up with toast - she tried but only managed a very small amount then came the ice cream. I dont know what they give out these days?

edit to add - the toast helps scrape away some of the mess that is left behind after the op - yuck
