Could be an interesting challenge, most of us are effected by smoking, our own or someone else̢۪s, your chance to promote it, or shun it,

This is one of those challenge suggestion where I fear the quality of the images could be relegated to the dust bin and the scores more reflective of the views one has relative to smoking.

Sorry, but NOT a keeper in my book.

I think there's potential. One of the more original ideas I've heard. All challenges have to contend with the opinions and views the voters have on the subject.

it could be just a 'smoking' challenge ... where people can express their views ... but people can also creatively use the challenge topic in other ways.

i think the smoking/anti-smoking idea is a little restrictive.

Ah... NO...
The trillions of electrons that this would cause to be excited could be used in much better ways

Hi Ray, I meant more along the lines of two challenges, a bit like the current good, and bad, with pro smoking, and anti smoking, so as to separate the rivalry. I have given up smoking, so I have seen both sides, I know how easy it is to get hooked, and how hard it is to stop, it was just a thought.

Hmmm... probably would be very few who enter on the pro smoking side so it could be easier to win a ribbon. On the other hand given the zealously of the anti-smoking contingent the high score would probably be somewhere around a 4.

A four...are you serious??? Do you remember Perry Como... he had a song for situations like this...Dream Along With Me. A four indeed... more like a 2. :O)

i think its a great idea. Kind of sad to think that people will vote down images becuase they don't like smoking.

I am anti smoking having seen too many members of my family suffer as a result. However, I did submit this shot as it captured the feel of a place. So I wonder if I trample over my views for the sake of my art? (Said very tongue in cheek).

Why not? They vote down images because they don't like nudes or blood or anything hinting at unpleasantness, why would this be any different?

I'm just wondering why the need to stir any more dissention than we already see around here...

I'd like to see this as an expert editing challenge.

Setting here in Altanta, they have smoking rooms inside the airport...last time I saw them was in Reno years ago. I think they took them out. If I took a shot, it would come out flat/no contrast. Very smokey, don't even have to light up to have one.....Lol
