| Is there an external 5D battery anywhere out there? I'm taking long exposure night shots and it eats up the batteries like nobody's business |

| Nice. But what if I'm out in the middle of nowhere and there isn't an outlet for miles? |

I'm pretty sure the 30D battery grip fits the 5D.
also, Quantum I think makes a power adapter from their batts to a 5D (or most any other camera or flash).

| the best solution for you may depend on where you're shooting... if you are shooting truly remote, then something like the Quantum Turbo system would seem to be a good option, though expensive. An alternative, if you will be remaining near a vehicle, would be the Canon AC adapter and a power inverter running off of the vehicle's battery. You could also run the power inverter off of a smaller 12V lead-acid battery and carry the battery into the field, if the distance is short enough. Batteries intended for lawn equipment often have carry handles. |
