How bout a no rules challenge? (except for pornographic pix, that's a pretty good rule)
This way people could show off their funkiest photoshop work or just have fun breaking the rules. i.e. Submitting their favorite pic that they took years ago. |

Check out the discription for the Black on Black challenge. It says to ignore the post shot adjustments rules. |

right... i just want to see what people will submit without any kind of rules, timelimits or subject guidelines. There are tons of very creative people here and i couldn't even begin to imagine what kind of stuff would be submitted. Just an idea...

I like the idea. Actually I made the same suggestion myself awhile ago. Anything goes(well almost anything :)), no particular theme, just go with it. Then those who don't like to stick to the guidelines can have a field day. Super idea.

i like to stick to the guidelines. i'm one of the people championed those guidelines over the past year and a quarter :) ...
but i would like the ability to edit out dust spots and hot pixels, just like they let you do on dpcontest.com, with apparently no ill effects :)

Exactly. And that's really the feeling shared by all in favor of more editing freedom. The way the poll is written, we will be allowed to do stuff like that just in those weeks when you might not need it at all :)
And oh, magnetic, if you're one of these people with a say in the matter, could you please please please do something about taking the challenge in the highest consideration wording? It is that 'highest consideration' that is the culprit of some voters strictly voting on whether pics meet the challenge rather than the overall merits of the pic.

See, I'd be against this modification. This isn't just a 'what is the best photograph submitted' challenge; if so, why would there be a theme at all? I've seen photos in challenges that I could have given a 9 or 10 *in a different challenge* with a clean conscience, that ended up with a 4 or 5 from me because they did not fit the current challenge. I don't want the best photo submitted that week to win. I want the best photo submitted that week to win.
