Please keep us posted on your thoughts and experiences with these folks. Just the the other night I was thinking about and looking into an AA degree in Photography through the "Academy of Art Institute" (www.academyart.edu). The level 2 courses at your place, although not an effort toward a degree, look fun and may be a better way to go. However, one more degree is another notch on the belt for anyone that cares.

Well it is either the course or this:

Nobody wants to help me decide?

The bg "support system" is nice, and reasonably priced.

I guess it would be a good addition to your rig in your studio/garage/back yard/extra room.

At work, we just use aluminum pipe, rope, and hard grave #2 clips to do the same thing for alot less money.

Just a thought.

Well I am thinking I can deal with the PVC pipe and the bicycle hooks I have now and go ahead and take the course with Cindi........

Cindi,

It looks as though that I am going to sign up for the freelance course.

However, we are in the middle of a loan app., and my boss wants me to wait at least a week or two until the app. is said and done.

Like yourself, I am highly intrigued over the business of freelance.

Being a hired gun is one thing, being able to buy bullets is another.

If you don't mind, I may have questions for you and REX in the future.

Thanks for the link.

Thanks for your time.

Hey guys! Nice to know I'll have some company on this one. :D

Ask away, never minded answering questions! I'm up to the first project now -- but haven't started shooting for it yet. Perhaps this afternoon, but I have a superbowl party tonight, so who knows how much shooting actually gets done. lol

Well I will be joining you and signing up tonight.

Don't care too much about the Stock photo part but the wedding and portrait lighting reeled me in.

Ok, did anyone else think Cindi was going to be TEACHING an online course? ;)

02/05/2007 04:01:37 PM · #38
I'm still at the first project. I won't read further until I have that project done (and done well!).

And no, Billy, I make a terrible teacher lol

I'm going to be shooting for the first project today. I'll post my 5 shots once I have them processed, before I send them in for "grading". :)

Sounds great, James. I'm now debating about my first project. Thought I would do a portrait sitting, but last few days I've been working on product shots, so I might use that as my project. I'll keep playing and see what I think works out best - I'm in no hurry to send it in, though, can take my time and shoot for a week or so.

I was just wondering how everyone who enrolled for this course is finding it.

Does it take up a lot of your time?
03/30/2007 01:27:32 PM · #44
Curious how the progress is going. Everyone involved liking the course? Are you getting anything out of it?

I've been eyeing the School of Photography courses for a while and would like to know if they're worth it?

Thanks!

Hey, I've been meaning to post to this thread for days and keep forgetting before I get it done. I finished all of the reading material (some great info) and have submitted the first assignment of three. Waiting to hear what my assigned Mentor thinks. Can't post which 5 I used just yet 'cause one is probably going to be in Free Study, but they were all portraits.

I have been meaning to get back to this. I have been so busy at work and shooting models it is just hard. I am going to do my first assignment.

heh! That's the fun of online courses, you can drag your feet if you want to or just do it when you feel like it! I've been taking my time too. ;)

Ok I have been meaning to come in here and update this thread. But ith the computer malfunction that took a little longer than expected I haven't had time. But now I do.

I have reached my first assignment and willdo shots on Saturday for them. My question to Cindi would be we have to choose between:

1. A Wedding
2. Studio Portraits
3. Travel Photographs
4. Sports Event

If I do Studio Portraits is outdoor portraits ok? I have no studio as of yet and am doing a model shoot Saturday. I can waitr if need for the wedding I have scheduled on June 2nd but really want to concentrate on Portraits.

Other than that the course is going great.

I was wondering about this course, had forgotten about it, but still would love to have an update.

Worth the $$?
