I really don't know why I hav them turned on... I rarely actually read them. For those that have them off, you aren't missing much.

I think a few of us have documented what is wrong with simply turning the signatures off. Healthy discussion here is what we're after, and like I've tried to make clear from the beginning.. I am *NOT* after getting rid of signatures, or images in them.. I'm only just trying to get people together to discuss a way we can make it more individual friendly.
If you have suggestions, I'd love to hear them... as I'm sure anyone else with interest in this subject would.

No, but it's rather unfair that a few people's selfish (yes, I think it is) attitude makes it so that we can't see anyone's signature.
I also see no reason for space-consuming images in the signature, repeated over and over and over in a thread -- put in a text link to the photo in your signature, or simply add the photo to the end of your actual post.
Out of curiosity, how many of you paste a little stamp-sized photo next to where you sign your checks? |

I use a life-sized JPstamp on my checks.

The simplest solution in my mind would be to have a checkbox in the preferences page that says "Block signature Images" underneath the hide signatures checkbox.
The site could then skip the IMG and THUMB tags when parsing the signatures.
Another option would be to only allow signature images from a specific folder in a user's portfolio that limits size and number of images.

This is very much along the lines of my original thinking... although I'd originally thought to do it off-site (in my infinite non-website-knowledgeable wisdom)

How about sigs only appearing on your most recent post rather than first in every thread. Surely if a sig is supposed to be the last thing someone sees when you post it only needs to be on your latest one ;D (that is a serious sugestion BTW)

In the meantime, if asked nicely, smurfguy might be able to pull off a DPC Mod that could make the sig pics go away.

You're a genius! I want to start doing this tomorrow, but since I use online bill payer, I never actually use real checks. |

Sorry for the old topic - I just noticed this thread.
Interesting idea, Leroy... It could be done... Or the signature images could be shrunk, or have a maximum size. Maybe a click would make them full size...

there is the current option in the portfolios to view the thumbs or not view the thumbs of the challenge list.
a little arrow like that for the signature images would be ideal.
some of the quotes are funny, and i sometimes use the links in signatures, so i dunno if i want to completely turn them off. but the images are annoying.
i stay away from DGRIN for this very reason.

Got somewhere between 60 and 100 Adblocked signature pics in my Adblock list.....
It is not only this forum. I post/read regularly at autosport/motorsport forums as well and the sigs they have there are even more annoying then here (not annoying anymore because of the Adblock). Huge team banners, animations, driver photos. Dpreview is not so bad.
Adblock is great when it comes to this stuff. I think I have more signature files than ads blocked. :)
