OK, I have this image which is super noisy. All the noise is caused by post-processing. When I try to NeatImage it, nothing happens, even with all the sliders full power. Is this due to the noise coming from post? Is there any way to fix it?
Thanks.

| Run the noise reduction software first. PP will enhance noise making it much harder to remove. |

Without seeing your image, it's hard to diagnose the issues you are having. But one recommendation would be to run NI before you start the processing. It's possible that you are amplifying existing noise in PP to a point to which NI can't reduce it.

Well Noise reduction is usually a form of unsharpening. Either way it will remove detail. But neat image analyzes for noise and then sets a "filter" for it to a certain extent.
If its not detecting noise then its not gonna remove much or the noise its removing isnt really that if at all visible.
The noise youre seeing migth not look like real noise to its algoritihm

This happens to me once in a while.
Do you have Adjustment Layers on your image?
If you have an Adjustment Layer selected, Neat Image (or any other filter) will not have a visual effect on the image. Be sure that the image layer is selected.

OK, here's the full image:
Icey
And here's a 100% crop:
Icey (100% Crop)
I don't have any adjustment layers and I'm using the seperate NeatImage program, not the plug-in. All post-processing was done in RawShooter, mostly saturation and vibrance, some shadow contrast and possibly exposure adjustment, I can't remember for sure. Thanks.

| If your image started out very dark the raising the brightness is going to bring out a lot of noise. Most of the detail goes into the brightest sections of the photo. |

I just ran NI on your posted image and it removed all the noise. I let it auto profile is all. No tweaks.
Both are 100% crops as close to the same as I could achieve quickly. Nothing else done except NI.

Nice the unsharpening that takes place during noise reduction usualy worsens things.
Thata ctually looks betetr in the after around the ice!

So how is that that when I'm running it, I get nothing? Like absolutely nothing at all. I'm working from a tiff, and also auto profiling.

Try creating a flattened version of the pre-NI image, and running NI on that. It can do weird things (or nothing at all) if you run it on an image with adjustment layers.

Probably an issue of multiple layers as Bear_Music says.
But since it appears to be all color noise, try this:
1) Create a copy of the layer
2) Do a gaussian blur, at about a 3.4 pixel radius. It will get very blurry
3) Change the new layer's blend mode to color.
That's a good way to get rid of color noise.
