I know it is allowed under certain parameters, but who do I contact if I decide I want my submission removed? |

Site Council, under Help, Contact us. You can always request a self-DQ, I think. |

I don't mean requesting a DQ, my image is not in violation of anything. Here is the rule I am refering too:
You May:
request removal of your own entry during the voting period IF none of your last 25 entries were disqualified or removed, and no rules were violated.
I just think I want it removed. I'll decide when I get home from work today. Am I following that rule correctly?

I think you need GOOD reason for a self DQ and not just because it is scoring badly or someone left a rude comment (you can have a comment removed i have done so before). Also it will mean that should you get an actual DQ after that it would mean you getting a little ban too.. try and ride it out. I hope you can feel better about it after a hot bath and a good dinner...

It counts as a self-DQ. I think the only other option is if it MUST be removed for legal reasons and such, but that would be very, very rare.
If it's just because it's not scoring well, just let it be. You never know who will find it to be just to their liking and very glad you entered it. A low score is just a number - the ability to strike a chord in someone - maybe just one someone - is worth more than a number. |

You can request removal of your entry (also called a self-DQ) of an entry, so long as it is still in the voting phase, via the contact us page at the following URL:
//www.dpchallenge.com/help_contact.php?TICKET_TYPE_ID=2
As long as you are eligible under the terms listed in the rules (no DQ's in your past 25 entries, and your photo is not under review for DQ), you can make the request for any reason, or for no reason.
Bear in mind, however, that a removal does count as a disqualification when we calculate penalties for multiple DQ's, so you would end up with a short suspension from entering challenges if any of your next 25 entries were disqualified. For this reason, we do not recommend taking a self-DQ unless you have a good reason, though it is your privilege to do so if you wish.

That's exactly what it is though "A self DQ."
Either you self DQ or you leave it in. |

Ok, thanks for the info. My image is scoring low, but I alomst expected that and that is not the reason I want to remove it. I don't really care about my overall "average". Its just that no one was leaving me comments and I wanted to start a thread now asking peoples thoughts rather than wait a week becasue I want to use this image for something else and I wanted advice to make it stronger. My decision to use it for something else (not related to this site) only came to mind this morning and voting had already started. But I did not fully understand what requesting removal meant. Now that I do, I will just leave it be. :-) Hopefully some more comments will come rolling in to help me make the image better.
Thanks for all the comments. |

FWIW, even if you had it self-DQ'd, we'd ask that it not be posted in the forums until after voting is over, due to the "outtakes" rule. |
