hey everyone, I just wanted to clarify a question I had concerning the challenge rules. I looked through the rules(briefly) and could not find the answer. Since I am really busy and the Free Study is due tonight, I thought I would just post my question.

Anyway, what are the rules about having visible logos in an image? For example, the NIKE symbol or wording, the Corona label, etc.

The answer will determine which image I submit tonight.

Thanks for your help!

No rules against it. Those things are only no-no when selling stock photography.

use in a challenge is considered "personal use" and is generally accepted if it's not for profit.

You can't add a logo or text in post processing. If it was in your capture, it's fine. Note however that a logo used in a negative manner (like an Exxon logo in the sand next to a dead seal) might bring that company's legal department down on you and COULD be a DQ for trademark issues.

Good point, Shannon. I'm still on my first Mt. Dew this morning -- brain isn't engaged yet. I should stop typing....

Mmmn, Mountain Dew... good stuff!

Back to subject, I was wondering about this too. What about on DPCPrints, I guess not?

I think it only matters if you are selling the rights, for commercial use. Selling a single print (art) would not be a problem (someone correct me if I'm insane, but that's the way I understand it).

Warhol did pretty well for himself selling pictures of Campbell's soup. ;-)
