What tools do people on DPC use to build their site??
I built this one using front page, but I'm currently building a new one usign Creative suite 2 (Photoshop-Imageready-Golive) and I believe this one will be a lot better!!!
I'm curious what tools other people are using and why. |

For clients, I use Frontpage simply because a lot of people have it and that is what they are comfortable with. I also find that it is above par with several other editors. When you have tons of tables, it gets kind of interesting in WYSIWYG editors. Frontpage seems to handle them a little better.
If you want to experiment with other free editors, try my software list here

Photoshop -> Imageready -> Dreamweaver
I find that combination gives me the most flexibility. I'm not worried about HTML when I'm using Imageready and so can concentrate on the design aspects. Also, it suits me as I prefer using tables for layout instead of CSS (I use CSS for style only) |

I use anything from Notepad to Frontpage 2003, Ive also tooled with Microsoft sharepoint designer 2007. I dont use dreamweaver or anything. At the moment my personal site www.rainmotorsports.com is down because i havent had time to work on it.
I also use a couple of tools for my PHP. Notepad works but in order to save everything in utf-8 I use othersoftware that the name escapes me at the moment.
Dreamweaver, Hotdog pro, plenty of tools out there some of them free. |

Just an offside comment but ... I have a cable internet connection and it still takes many seconds for this page to load ... you may want to cut down the loading time on the main page ... surely those who still use dialup will bail before your main page is loaded ... I am not trying to be brutal but I thought you might like an honest opinion that may help you make your site more universally friendly.

I hate web-building --- just one of a dozen reasons to go with SmugMug!

I've been a long time fan of Macromedia Homesite but these days, I'm mostly just using Photoshop to mockup and TextPad to write code. TopStyle Lite for css. |

I love designing and building websites. Wish I could make a living from it. For now, I just do it for fun.
For html sites, I use Dreamweaver.
Just did a CMS Mambo site at GimmeSweeps and I am ready to do more :)

Avoid "glow" effects they're really out of style and decrease clarity.
I used a mix of the follow:
- Frontpage (great for ad-copy changes)
- ColdFusion (scripting language for database driven websites)
- Flash |
