Hi there dear dpc's.

I'm looking for some strobes to do some photos. Most will be portraits and location work and stock.

Now I use my sb800 out of the camera, but I wanted some more control and power.

I was thinking of Bowens but on a local store I was advised fot the Visatec carkit Solo 400 and 800. The 800 has 400joules per second if I'm not mistaken. But I have no clue if this is enough.

I cames with two white/translucid humbrellas but I wanted a softbox also. What size do you recomend for 1/2 ou 3/4 of body porttraits/shoots? I was thinking of 100x100cm, but I don't have much room for it.

And Visatec is it good and reliable?

Hope you can help me...

Visatec are made in switzerland by one of the world leaders in studio flash, Elinshrom, they take the same accessories as this make as well.
They are well made and reliable, the 400w/s {joule} should suit you, they have all the features you will need, buy the biggest softbox you can the bigger the box the softer the light.
Buy these with confidence, they are backed by oe of the worlds best makers of this equpment, you might also want a flash meter and a infa red trigger for themor you can trigger them with the Sb flash set to 1/8th power

Visatec is made by Broncolor. The monoblocks are compatible with Impact. The Litepac is compatible with Picolite/Mobilite, so it'll take Pulso if you get the Broncolor adapter.

I have a 2 head Litepac setup. I love it. I just wish the modifiers weren't so expensive. A snoot and grid set just sold for $230 on ebay. I recommend it if you're prepared to make a significant investment. K&S Photo in Palo Alto is selling brand new Litepac kits for $1700 (compared to $2200 at B&H).

And diffusion isn't everything, especially on location. Go for control.
