That does suck. That animals life was cut short for the sake of gambling.

They should have put him down to begin with. I am not being "cruel" or anything, but generally any time an accident like this happens in horse racing (and it is quite common) they usually put the horse down shortly after. The chance of survival is very slim. Only because of the limelight of television was this really ever given the chance.

My wife, who is an active dressage rider, thought the whole ordeal was sickening.

RIP champ! One of my fav horse of all time!!!

I'm wondering if they were able to get any sperm? Or DNA to clone him? {not meaning to sound mean here).

Nope, cant do artificial insemination with race horses. Has to be natural.
