Things are getting bad out here in NSW, Australia. The local lake is approximately two thirds the size of Sydney Harbour. (425 000 mega-litres when full.) is now down to 2 percent due to the lack of rain in the past 5 years, the remanants of the old town that use to be there are showing, fences, farm machinary and even the cemetary.. here are the results...
It is truly a site to see when you have seen this dam full

Feel sorry for you guys down there. Not a cricket fan, but sympathy is slightly dampened(pardon the pun!). This is like we had last summer in UK, no water, heat and storms. Hope things improve for you soon.
Like the photos, but would rather they were of loads of water and watersports. |

& to think people whinge & moan about having to hand water their lawns in the cities.
I live in Adelaide. Sure, we have water restrictions, but it is not as dire as rural NSW. My folks have land in the SA Mallee (Karoonda...Where the hell is that? ;) ). They were also pretty hard hit by the drought, but it was only this year. But, 2 weekends ago, they received nearly 2 inches of rain, so things are looking better.
My heart goes out to your community Scarlet. I hope things improve. I think we have it tough, but you guys are really suffering |

Let's all try md pray for rain, or at least hope it rains soon, as it is also very bad up here in Queensland, especially in the city, with strick water resrtictions, but so very very bad in the country, and our Aussie outback.....
Rain... rain... rain...... please fill our dams, and our hopes.....
Our parched earth is so dry, with cracks and dust all around.
A drop of rain, a shower of two, but bust the heavens for us to see the rain, for us to cope.
Now, we see the mighty rain pelting down, upon our ground.
Rain... rain... rain.... Please fill our dams.....

Please read the following, but it is very sad, and very emotional;
Just recieved one of our most popular monthly magazines called the "Austrlian Womens Weekly",and have read a very disturbing story, about the plight of the Aussie farmer.
Records now show, that every four days, an Australian farmer actually kills himself.....
This is just so sad, and I knew thing were tough, but this is a waste of life.
I only hope someone finds some answers soon, to make sure we find a way to help stop this, from continueing down this path.
The Aussie battler deserves a better go.....
