Okay well as you all know when the site is udner maintenence theres a page thats self refreshing and has an update link.
WHat you dont know is the update link points to the maintence page and using it resets the 600 second refresh.
Theres my proof BTW its resized to 800x640 and its a PNG so it should load quickly at 75kb.
Thsi shot was taken AFTER the maintence was over and i hit the update buton multiple times each time going bacxk to the same page. WHile on the other tab i had the site up.
However if you do let it sit for 10 minutes it will refresh to the mainoage im just saying the update link is big faker that makes ur wait even longer!
Dont believe me give it a shot for yourself.... //www.dpchallenge.com/down_maintenance.php#
EDIT - As of 430 the link stopped working

True but it was visibly finished 30 minutes before it disapeared. But there could still have been scripts finish up miniscule tasks and the call to destroy a temporary page such as that didnt come until the end of the last script... a clean up comand.

On a similar note, Drew and Langdon have worked out how to beam crack into you through your monitor.
Ever wondered why it was so hard to stop? Now you know. |

How about getting rid of that Update button? Make people wait every 5 hours to see an update to their score. I have to hit it constantly and for what, to see that one or two votes were cast.
You guys should track each time it's hit, and show it the users' profile page.

The update button on the maintenance page is a fake. It's there for those who need a fix while the maintenance is being done. If it resets the timer then I think that's just D & L having some fun. ;o) |
