Well mine is fairly recognizable, I think that everyone's taking my comments out on my face. lol It's a self portrait, I did every last drop of it - but it's over-creative, and thus sitting at 5.35

This is my first submission and it's fun to wait for the points. Although I'm only hovering slightly above 5 right now *laugh* Thought I would get a bit more points, but hey, what the heck. Perhaps my idea wasn't expressed very clearly or in the best way. This site's for learning too :o)

And of course, not everybody can have taste ;o)

I agree photogirl, this has been a very fun challenge to vote on. There's some AMAZING shots here, and I stand by my original post, EVERYONE here is "good lookin'". I'm hangin' on to a 5 with my fingernails too, you guys. but I'm still having fun!

i'm being generous with my votes. no less than 6 for any brave self-portraiting soul.

i'm also heartened by the fact that some people who i KNOW are good looking at getting not stratospheric scores either.

I'm with mag, especially since I myself uploaded a poorly edited self portrait (noticed it too late, couldn't fix it! :( )

This challenge just isn't about photographic talent as much as it is photographing the talent. :) When I vote...nothing below a 5 for sure!

4.xxxx isn't very encouraging, but I am the one at fault. I actually though that a lot more people would use the same approach (however I saw only 1 or 2 photos using a similar method - can't tell you what exactly since my score is low enough considering we are in the first few hours of voting). I did something that has been done ... quite a few times.

If this were a social event, we would not be here discussing how high or low someone scored ... life is a beauty contest and now is payback time! 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 ... JK Somehow I feel that people that didn't submit should not have they votes counted or have them counted 50% ... but then I am just bitter at my 4.xxxx. This thing does great things for someone's self esteem, HAHAHAHAHAHA :D

you can find it on cast votes page 2 the same pic. how does it count regarding dpc rules - Exposure Date: Your photograph must be taken within the submission dates for the challenge unless otherwise specified in the 'extra rules' section of the challenge.

Yeah Alex, I'm feelin' like some ugly duck right now or a really poor photographer or a combination thereof. I'm currently hovering around 4.8 in this challenge. Lucky people are easin' up on the voting....ROFL The upside is my off-center image is doing extremely well.....sorta bitter sweet ;)

Looks like someone pulled real quick or the syntax was incorrect.

The .asp link doesn't work. Tell us another way to get there - what could we search for in the archives?

Well I just *barely* made into the 5-10 camp! I can't wait to see the results of this challege, unfortunatelly no comments though :(

By my personal rules, if it fits the challenge and there are no big glaring flaws (but no real points of interest or other upticks), it gets a 5. This is still true in this challenge. :-> People who didn't, imho, take a self-portrait (and by that I mean 'there is no human anywhere in the shot', not 'Did someone else hit the shutter button for them?!?'), are getting a bit lower from me. People whose shot has, to me, flaws, but it's a valid self-portrait, are getting maybe a 3 or 4 (depending on how bad the technical flaw is).

However, well over two-thirds of the votes I'm giving out are 5 or above. Just because, gee, people are FITTING THE CHALLENGE TOPIC on this one. :->

That's why I'm not using that metric as a way to say 'Man, that's not fitting the topic!!!'. :-> So far I haven't seen anything that couldn't have been gotten with mirrors, cable release, timers, etc.

I'm at 4.3 which is actually above what I expected.

What I wanted to try and show was something personal and different. I had a message - not all of us are models or have perfect bodies but, and here's the thing, some of us size 22 mamas are actually happy with our bodies any way.

So I entered something I know will be quite unattractive to many people and will offend a great many.

I already got a comment suggesting it was skin for skin's sake (that's as much as I will say, although given that so many entries aren't anonymous because of the nature of this challenge, I don't think it's such a big deal for once) but that really missed the point I was trying to make.

So what I really want are comments to let me know whether the low scores are because people

don't like the skin
don't like the technical aspects - lighting, grain, focus
don't like the colour treatment
don't like the composition

or something else
or all of the above

BUT I really don't think that one should get down or feel bad about themselves if their photo scores low. It's the image itself being judged not us as people - don't allow yourself to confuse the two.

That's what I think anyway.

I nearly chickened out of my entry but I decided in the end that I had a particular idea I wanted to achieve and that I could learn more from it (given comments) than I could from the very boring but perfectly adequate straight portrait shot I was going to enter.

You go girl! I tried very hard to cover as much of my less-than-model-material body as possible, and that was a trick. I'm proud of you for being brave!
