scalvert hasn't posted to this thread yet... what's going on?

I'm just having a hard time believing that he has a known hardware issue.. (sound card).. so to fix it, he buys a Mac.

Sounds a leeeeetle bit more expensive than a new sound card to me! ;)

Today I got an iMac...

LOL, some people never learn or more likely bury their head in the sand like the proverbial ostrich! :)

Printing this thread so I can use it for an alibi when my sound card "suddenly" goes belly up...

See honey, it happens.
"blah blah blah....bullsh*t"

Yeah, it was working yesterday.
"blah blah blah....blah blah"

Windows says it's missing.
"blah blah?"

Well it was there yesterday - maybe bear's ufo took it out.
"ha ha blahhhhh, very blahhh"

Oh yes... it was a very rare one. I did find one on eBay, but it was like $4.00 or something, but I think it probably was a scam.
"blah blah whew blah"

Why do I need sound? Windows said I did and refuses to run unless it can be heard.
"blah blah blah....Gates blah blah, blah blah BLAH!"

Who said a Mac was better? Scalvert did.
"uhhh...blah blah"

No, your PC will have do for now. Your sound card is still there. In fact I think yours has two of them.
"blah blah blah blah blah, blah blah crap"

"So how much blah blah blah, blah???"

Oh not much really, but the great part is, I get to save time editing my...

Hope nobody took offense or thought I was poking fun at anyone.
Killed yet another thread.

You mean you've lived with the thread-killer guilt for a whole DAY? - Let me take the blame instead.

Umm - no, not really. Just noticed.
I've killed many - I'm used to it by now.
Thanks for the offer.

The truth of the matter is that I was already conyemplating Imac. Yet, I held back on the move because the music end is a big headache to set up. This alone kept me in Windows. I wanted to migrate in an orderly manner and I waited too long. Well, imagine the night mare when it must be done under duress. I have to add a midi interface and then an external sound engine. The do midi configuration to incorporate my Yamaha CLP-820 and then a daisy chain of synths.

The Mac is a new challenge. First I had to contact Adobe to get PS cross platform. That is due to arrive today. Other important programs are also in the mail (their cross platforms). Some will not run on the Imac so this meant first increasing the ram on the mac: installing an exteral hard drive and then partitioning it. Installing Paralles Desktop and then installing Windows [to be used only to run programs that do not run on the mac.] Then I will have to see what effect this parallel desktop has on my system. Virtual machines are quite lovely on paper but do not usually deliver all that is promised. We'll see.

So, I continue to tweak and prepare and it looks like anpther week will go by before I can get back to life as usual.

At least I was able to get Windows on my crashed computer to spit out my picture and music data. Another boring task perhaps more so than reading this post. lol See you all soon.
