I am looking for something, freeware preferrably, that will do a simple slideshow on a PC - but there's a catch (of course).
I am shooting tethered, and as I shoot JPGs are added to a subdirectory. I need these files added to the slideshow automatically - so when I shoot a pic it will be appended to the slideshow automatically.
All the ones i've looked at require you to restart the slideshow to add images.
Anyone got any ideas?

Wow...... you don't ask for much, do you? ;-)
I'll be waiting to hear if there IS such a thing ..... perhaps it'll do dishes, too! |

| Couldn't you just use the Windows Picture Viewer slideshow? That'll give you a show of whatever's in the folder so would automatically add as you shoot more. |

I really don't think what you are looking for exists.
It might be possible with a bit of ActionScript to do such a thing with Macromedia (ahem sorry, Adobe) Flash. But, that's nowhere near free.

not sure if this is what you're looking for but it works good for making slideshows & putting them onto cd/dvd/etc. It's free to use just on the computer without the burning option....

I've tried that and couldn't get it to add the new files.
I also tried a few of the Canon things, Exifer, Breezebrowser pro, irfanview

This might work, and there is quite a bit of Slideshow software at sourceforge.

CompuPic will do that. At least it will show a slideshow that updates for files added via Explore. I assume it will do the same for files added in other ways as well. For doing it via Explorer it is necessary to have the slideshow in a separate window so that you can add/move files in another window with Explorer.
Here's how: opens the slideshow configuration dialog. Check the box to "Display slideshow in floating window". Then start the slideshow ...you need to have at least one file in the directory that the slideshow is running. Then just add files to that directory and the new ones will be added real-time.
I would bet that it would update in full screen if files are added in some way that doesn't require screen access.

Initial testing shows the mid grade Compupic will work - will test this tomorrow with the tethered shooting and wireless deal and see if it works IRL. Looks like it should
Thanks a million!
