I'll think about it. On the first thought, I don't think this would change much, since you still need to use the negative space skillfully to make a good photograph. If I revoted, I would probably only need to lower the scores of the images that have large objects (how bizarre this sounds), but I doubt this would change the scores of the images with the "too much emtpy space" ailment. |
Well, then maybe don't bother. By the way, rereading my suggestion, I see it came out a little abrupt. I meant the tone to be more like "well, you might consider revoting." Sorry about that. :)

Up from last night. The comment leaves something to be desired, but it's probably right. |

I am hoping for no comments :). My previous lowest commented entry was 2. Really can't blame the voters for this one, it follows challenge description to the point of being boring...
Just getting it out of my system before WPL! :P |

Dude, save your self-DQs for times when you REALLY need them. A 5.68 is a very nice score and you never know when you'll accidently drop a 4.2 into a challenge....THAT is when you might consider pulling it.

Yeah, and from experience doing a self-DQ makes one REALLY nervous about the next 25 challenges.

I'm just happy that mine finally climbed out of the depths of hell to get to an average score. There must be a god afterall.

I would have really, really loved to adjust contrast a little.. It would have made a HUGE diference in my score acording to the comments... Anyway... I guess I am not doing THAT bad for a straight from the camera challenge..Wich for me means, I have to stay away from the USM!

I do think next time we have a minimal editing challenge, I'm gonna shoot tethered. There are some things I wish I had seen while I had the shot set up.

I'll be relieved if it gets to 5.4. I did try this concept two days in a row to get it semi-right. Being careful to avoid my usual 1-2 degree tilt, etc. Setting the exposure comp back to neutral from my std -1/3. A lot of tries on aperture, took a lot more photos than I would have if it was not in the minimal editing challenge. Not expecting any comments on this one. |

Mine has climbed above 5 only to drop again, so I'm posting it while it's up there again. Haven't had one start this low and go up (started around 4.6 after the trolls got it early on), but this is only my fifth entry. Oh, and 1 non-comment comment.

Began with a 4.5 and about 8 votes. Up to a near 5.6, down to a 5.45. A single vote dropped it from a 5.5 to the 5.45. (A 3, if you're not into averages.) |

From 3.9167 peaked at 4.9016 then dropped to 4.8710 which also translates to a 3 score. At this point I'm kinda wondering why I'm even watching. |

Scores are going in the wrong direction. Several harsh votes. And of course, no comments. (Two comments total. One useful, one that makes me go "huh?")

Wish I could say the same. I started out with an 8, did a not-so-graceful swan dive down to 5.1, and I've only managed to claw back up to a 5.53. My only comment essentially says it's one of the best entries. This on a shot that I thought had ribbon potential. :-/ |
