Here's the scoop. Looks pretty handy for a second, all-in-one camera:

See: new Olympus SP-550 UZ Ultra Zoom, which will include an 18X optical zoom lens (28- to 504-mm equivalent in 35-mm photography)

Includes IS too!

Oh. whoopy.. a zoom range like that on 7mp crammed onto a tiny little sensor. Joy.

Only thing I like about it is that the *design* is pretty sexy..

but if I want crap photos due to far too much crap technology crammed into one area, I'll buy a Sony A100 thanks.

Oh no I *DI-INT!*

BTW.. crayon's camera is sexy too.

Sounds a little like a modern version of the C-2100UZ I used to have. It was a great pre-SLR camera. Lots of zoom and good manual controls for a P&S. I sold it last year. There didn't seem to be much point in keeping it, as it was much too big for my purse and if I'm going to carry anything big, it's gonna by my DSLR. I do miss it a little though. Took some great shots with it.

What's the deal with the ISO of 50 to 5000? I would think a lot of noise at ISO-5000.

if i understand correctly, the ISO 5000 is not at full resolution.
probably interpolated "sensitivity"
