Is it too late to submit to the Motion Panning Challenge?? LOL!!!!!
I just didn't get it before, and I tried very hard to have something to submit. But everything turned out way to blurry. I tried a new technique and voila! I captured two really good shots of my son and his friend zooming around in the little car. Okay...so it's still not worthy of winning a ribbon...not even close...but at least I finally rose to the challenge! Yay!

so what was the trick that made it all work for you? (the panning)

Just click on the second to last button above the message box and type/paste just the image number.

I think the main thing (the new technique I tried) was I turned my flash on. I used a really large aperature, and to compensate a somewhat low shutterspeed.

Not to worry, you weren't the only one who didn't get what motion panning is either and you had the good sense NOT to submit. :)

The trick is to have the main subject close enough to pan easily with a reasonably short exposure but the background far enough away that it moves a lot during that exposure!

I tripod makes things MUCH easier too.

Be careful with the flash or you could end up freezing you subject.

I did too this is a self portrait motion pan. Basicly spinning in circles with the camera bracketed out in front of the chair.

That's a pretty neat concept too. Lots of great ideas here!
