Hey everyone. I was hoping to track down a photographer I saw in a book a few years back. Unfortunately, I don't know his name. All I can do is describe his work.

Essentially, this photog's work was "painting with light." He would wire up some car headlights to some batteries, go out to some interesting locations, set-up, open the shutter for 30 mins or so, and run around lighting up interesting features.

The work I saw was of some graveyards, old ruins, churches, etc. I think he is in England?

Does anyone know this photog's name? I would like to go to his website and check out more of his work. OR find some books that his stuff is in.

Yep, I know the one you mean and his name escapes me too. I will go through my faves list to see if he is in there.

There was an article in Rangefinder a couple of yeas ago about a photographer that did this. He was American I believe because the article was of him going around to ghost towns in the South West and using headlights and spot lights to light up the buildings and old cars and things. I've not gotten rid of any of the issues so I probably still have it around here and if I find it I'll get his name. If someone else doesn't come up with it sooner.

The article I was thinking of was in Sept 2003 and the photographer was Berthold Steinhilber. And one of his books is "Ghost Towns of the American West". So the link you provided is more about him. It's funny how his work has stuck in my mind as well. He does great work.

I found the issue almost on top of one stack of my Rangefinders. :D

There was an article about someone doing something like this in an issue of Photo Life a couple years ago, but I can't find the copy right now.
