Well, it's a test of skill ... and that would imply cleaning your sensor first. And how is lots of eye candy congruent with minimalism? |

well you'll be giving me an 8 then ;}

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!
Spent practically all morning looking for a minimilistic shot. Two ideas did not pan out because of subject placement. One screw-up because I dropped and LOST my hard to find in nature 'subject'. Another idea for an excellent composition but it relies heavily on mother nature co-operating and being in the right place at the right time. Mother nature is NOT co-operating and I guess I'm not in the right place at the right time.
Sigh, I still have an entry in but I was looking for something even better. Sometimes being a perfectionist and being very picky is the absolute pits.
Minimalistic is proving to be far from being simple and easy.

Yeah, "small" is such a subjective thing.
Curious what happens if you have more than one subject... |

i actually managed to take advantage of the larger file size limits. mine weighs in at 154KB...
subject probably takes up 10% of the frame...

I didn't realize how much I relied on CS to tweak my images. I had to reshoot many times. Really enjoyed the challenge though to force me to do things right. Also learned that "sharpen" sucks, big time. Should have done it in-camera now that I am done.....

i found the sharpening in camera to be terrible. caused all kinds of funky color speckling and banding. maybe from a combination of the settings - but i needed the saturation and contrast jacked up, and that forced me to rely on the silly 'sharpen' filter.
definately a challenging challenge./

I would have preferred if the rulesets were changed between minimalism and the fill the frame challenges. I could come up with a more creative entry for minimalism using the expert rule set and it would be sigificantly easier to submit an entry under the minimal editing ruleset for the fill the frame challenge.
That said? I'm still going to give it a good try.

I put an entry in. It needs just a tiny bit of adjustments so I predict a low score, but I followed the rules. Somebody has to get the brown...and my entry is a good candidate! |

i want to know if anyone uses all 200K of file size available. that seems kind of a silly extra rule to me in this challenge.

Hey. Big-boned images need love too. ;)
Mine is in. I wanted so badly to use levels. It's driving me crazy! It's just a little slider! Come on. Just a little bit? PLEASE?

I had 3 different images ready for submission, all of the same subject, the lowest was 120k and the largest was 192k. Weird. |

i managed to to as well, but it would be nice to be able to pick the 'pure' white and black as i see...
noise and sensor dust are also under the photogs control - really. it's a matter of attention to detail. something that some didn't have the opportunity to take advantage of in the past. it was something of second nature - i imagine...
