I would like to know how some of the gang here get around to voting. I ask this because I usually have anywhere between 15 - 20 votes within the first hour of voting. Some of the votes show up within 10min of the start of voting. I usually don't vote until mid-week. Heck, I haven't even finished with the Magazine Cover challenge.
Another reason for me asking is that those first votes are almost ALWAYS about 1 full point lower than what my final scores end up. For example, this is the second challenge in a row that my score has to climb from a deep hole set by the early voters. I'm not saying that it shouldn't be that way, if that's your hones opinion of my pics then great. It's just a trend that puzzles me.
Anyone else see this trend? Or am I just paranoid (which is very possible).

Actually, for me it's been the opposite - for instance, on one of the sticker challenges, the first three people (I think) gave me nines and tens. It was pretty astounding for about 15 minutes, and then reality set in.
Heh. But as for your question: it really just depends on what I'm doing the night the challenges roll over. If I'm sitting there waiting to see what the next challenge, because I've nothing else to do, then I might vote on a few. If I'm in bed, like a sane person, it'll probably be within the next few days.

I vote fairly quickly, then later come back and look at it all as a gestalt. Sometimes then I adjust my vote to what it really, on further study, *ought* to be. Basically I do a first pass to segregate them into rough levels, then look at each level and adjust individual shots up or down as further looking tells me they deserve. And comment, of course.

Same hear Az. I did get in a self portrait though this week, and trying on the black on black. I have been editing so many other pics I haven't had time (did 2 different groups portraits last week and a half for REAL money).
I live in MDT, so at 10PM, up it comes. And me being a night worker (vampire or Nurseferatu), I am up anyway.

I start voting at about 10:15 (MST) after I've perused the placing in the previous challenge. I have a 5.8 voting average (which is the same as my average vote recieved, hmmm, go figure) so don't blame me for your low votes initially! I usually get my lowest scores right off the bat too, and they slowly creep up over the next few days. I put in comments over the week as well.

Eloise, brent and sagestudio....now I know who votes my pictures so low on mondays and wednesdays. Put'em up!! Get the gloves out...grrrr....
K rob I find that my score is low when voting first begins. I think they are mad because there photo didn't take 1st. ;-)
I don't vote till the middle of the week and sometimes don't even have a chance to vote.

Sonifo, it's going to be okay....really. Take it easy. LOL!!! =) I'm just kidding you. Anyway, by the looks of your 3 ribbons and recent "Favorite Photographer Profile" by Dsidwell, I don't think the early voting is effecting you much.

I vote as time permits, however I have experienced the early votes as kind and then a slow downward trend.
I will also (probably due to interest on what was submitted!)do a quick scan of the thumbnails and review content. Then go through and actually vote when I have an hour or so. As well, I then may review my top 10 just to make sure. |

Just because I'm at the top doesn't mean I don't feel the low blows.

I begin voting almost immediately as the challenge closes, since I'm usually in front of the computer anyway (12noon for me). But I dont usually finish voting (depending on number of submissions) 2-3 days later. I like taking my time, and if there's anything to comment on, I would. A point to note is, when I'm done voting, I usually go through my votes again, and almost always, I'd increase my voting scores on my second vote-thru. |

I try to vote all at once and as some of you folks said I'll come back and give each another look. I end up working through the images late at night and find that a fresh look gives a better feel to some photos. I am in my first challenge right now and find that I can not disagree with comments made (I am around a .4832....) and as they come in they are consistant. |

I normally vote at work, during my lunch break, then when i get home i go through them again. I normally have a group of pictures that i gave my top marks to and then look at these and finally up the vote on my favourite.
