My Eos300d has just been shorted out by my scandisk CF card. I put the card in my card reader (ever since I upgraded my zoombrowzer I can no longer download from the camera, as the Canon window doesn't recognise the camera!) and my laptop didn't download, I put card back into camera and turned it on. Nothing, no power recharged battery and tried again, still dead. Put card back in card reader and laptop said - power surge on usb input, reset.
Took camera and CF card to local Canon shop in my local Mall and they confirmed that camera is dead. They then put my CF card into two different cameras and guess what, They broke them; a 10d and a 450d. oops. canon service centre says it is the main board that has broken and it will cost a bit!
Seems like a bad design fault here if a bad card can render three different Eos cameras - Dead!

Craptacular! Sorry to hear about the busted camera. Hopefully it won't be too expensive for a repair.
