Hey all... Am redoing my business cards... In the past I've had people shots and done several different sets of cards based on the occasion that I was handing them out at. I also put all of my contact info on the back. However, I ended up moving and had three half-boxes of unused business cards with the wrong address on them. So, I thought I'd go with something way simpler. And blank on the back so that people can write down appointment times or whatever. Does this work for you? I still want people to recognize that I shoot live people, not just artsy stuff.

I love it! The colors, the balance, the contrast, it all works perfectly together!

Thanks! The only thing that bothers me about it is that I can't decide whether or not to put a period behind "art". Small, I know, but what do you think? |

Center the two periods in the word-spaces or use small bullets and it will look more like a balanced list:
portraits . weddings . art
or
portraits ΓΆ€ΒΆ weddings ΓΆ€ΒΆ art
One way to try out a new design is to put three copies onto a few 4x6 prints and cut them by hand, then print up a real batch when you are satified with the design.
The bullet character is made with the keystroke combination ALT-0149 i Windows and OPT-8 in the MacOS.
Also, I'd move that whole line a bit to the left so that it ends on a line with the descender of the "y" which ends the word "photography." -- I think it might look more balanced. You could also center it in the space between the right type margin and the right-most petals of the flower.

I like it, very clean, However for my taste I would make the flower BIGGER. Because you have to remember business card is not that big, so the way you have it there, the flower may be the size of a pinky nail? Well at least mine L()L. I would make it bigger so it POPS more. But thats just me. Nice work.

You could also make a bullet on both ends
ΓΆ€ΒΆ portraits ΓΆ€ΒΆ weddings ΓΆ€ΒΆ art ΓΆ€ΒΆ
Also, I'd make your web address smaller or move it so that it doesn't overlap your flower. That area looks kind of cluttered with the overlap.

Just a quick opinion that I wouldnt really change anything, but do put a period on the end of art. From experience though, careful what paper you decide to print these on. Having black go to the edge of the card looks great, but business card edges ding easily, then the card starts to look warn quickly. Just make sure that you either (though preferably both) get a REALLY nice card stock, and a nice, solid, metal business card holder. Leather, or softer material just destroys them! |

Didn't read through it allm so this might have been said before:
The flower should be a bit higher, so as not to touch the text.
Instead of portraits. weddings. art use ::portraits::weddings::art:: (for example. You might also use this symbol (if DPC gets the code): ΓΆ€ΒΆ
Yeah, what spazmo said ;)

Thanks everybody. I took some advice and moved things around a bit, rearranged the "tagline". Off to print! It will be nice not to look like a complete buffoon when someone needs a business card: "Uh, that number's wrong, and the address is wrong too..." |
