woot! sold another!
well, another (low res) version of the first image i've sold on alamy. i've still only got my 15 QC images online but i've made $434.84 (less commissions) so far.
i've got to get more discs out to them. woo woo! |

You mean when they refer to glamour photography? They mean no soft-porn, mens-mag style photos, I believe.
Congrats muckpond! How long have your photos been up? And which one did you sell?

Question: Why do people buy a $200 photo from Alamy when they can buy a $2 photo from iStock? They look to have similar quality photos on both sites... ? |

Just so I know I'm not toally abnormal, exactly how self-critical did you get before you submitted your QC batch to Alamy?!
It's taken weeks to get to a stage where I think I've now got my 10 ready for submission but every time I open them (you know, just to check the quality hasn't degraded in the last 10 minutes!) I start worrying about the interpolation quality all over again. I'm a nervous wreck! |

*shakes uncontrollably* rejection! LOL
BTW, if they are rejected, do they just let you keep trying immediately or do you have to wait a few months? (and yes, I am such a pessimist!) |

They received my submission CD a week ago, just waiting their decision now.
I'm nervous. :P

any reason you are selling them all RF?

I've sold three photos at Alamy since Christmas, looks like business is starting to pick up finally. I submit very few RF. Only RF are pics where it is easy to replicate. If it stands out or may be difficult to capture in the same way I go with L or RM. |

Rejection isn't so bad. It makes you try harder.
My entire lot was rejected because of one image. It had a displaced white mark that I wasn't aware of. I wrote them an email asking if everything else was fine or if I needed to fix anything else before I send in my new disk. They will tell you what needs to be fixed.

Hi, I'm new here - looks like a great forum. I signed up with Alamy several weeks ago and sent my CD with 10 images about the same time. Alamy received it on the 17th of Jan but have not yet processed them.
I know Alamy say it takes a month or so but what's the norm ?

That's an excellent, marketable shot. But should it be RF instead of L with no property release? Also, for something like that you may want to include "vertical" in the keywords. |

Doesn't have to be L without a release; it just means the end client would be limited to editorial use (well, assuming that the building is some place in the world which would require a release!)
Microstock insist on everything being fully released because of the nature of their clients, and the fact that they don't want to spend the time and money policing clients to ensure they don't break the rules around unreleased images. |

The norm tends to be in the 3-4 week range from when they receive it. If they flagged it as received on the 17th, I'd imagine it's made it up to "Processing" in your submission status by now... :-) |

Mine was received on the 19th and still at Media Received. Wait, wait, wait. Prep more for when the news comes.

Curious - our latest disc showed as received on the 19th too, and flipped to Processing a couple of days ago (not that I obsessively watch that status page at all, oh no...) |

That's ironic.. mine were flagged as received on the 17th.. still waiting the flip to processing.
Of course, I'm still in the QC level. I'd guess it would be different than submissions from people already approved. |

I was thinking of Alamy's licensing guidelines .
"There are some things which should never be Royalty-Free (RF), and should always be Licenced (L). These include the following:
* People with no model release.
* Domestic buildings with no property release."
But what are the odds the owner of this house would see his door in print somewhere...

Yeah, I'm really starting to get impatient now as my disc have been listed as "Media Received" for over 2 weeks now. I'm really keen to start working through Alamy but these delays are frustrating.
Bring on Alamy Upload ! |

Hi, i am also new.
I just wanted to inform you that my QC DVD was received on January 19 and changed to "Processing" today.
However I do not know if I will pass the test, as not all photos I have sent them are among my best photos. Maybe it was a little risky, but by sending them my TOP 10 photos I would not have been able to see if most of my photos meet their standards. |

Well, my "Media Received" switched over to "Processing" today.
Not too bad for time I guess.. sent 1/9, posted 1/17, processing 2/7.
Of course, I certainly could have gone without seeing a 2 under the Error column. Waiting to hear what I screwed up. |
