OK, mk, I got it spelled right. A few questions.

When I take a true HDR attempt (multiple exposures) I use generate and it comes up with a picture which always looks like crap (except in the little magnify box where you can see detail).

Is this normal?

What do I then do with the HDR file? Do I tonemap it?

How come when I pull up a histogram it always looks like it is barely registering (meaning I see pixels but it's basically a line across the bottom not raised like a normal histogram)?

I wonder if something is set wrong or I'm making a basic error.

Once you generate the HDR, the 'raw image' you generate does look like crap. You need to tonemap it as the second step to make the image come across as intended. You can select the levels of luminicity, contrast etc and 'strength' of the toning to get the image so it works for you.

Yep, it will look like crap when you first open it, that's normal. You then need to tonemap it. Not sure what you're seeing on the histogram, but I'd bascally ignore that and forge ahead. Might be that it's due to the extreme DR of the image, so the values are so spread out.
