That lens lives on my camera about 80% of the time (even though I have a 17-85 IS with more range). If I ever broke or lost it, I'd have a new one by the end of the week. My only nitpicks are that it will hunt for focus in very low light and that the zoom ring turns the opposite direction from other Canon lenses. |

Those are the kind of things I was hoping to hear. I've been searching for a month or more to find the first lens I wanted to add to the stable. I'm thinking this may be it. Next will be something a little wider and last on my list will be a longer focal length. The budget won̢۪t allow me to add too much too soon so I want to choose wisely. The Tamron is looking pretty good.

dont know if this helps but I have the Tamron AF 19-35mm f/3.5-4.5 which I brought from another DPC'er here and I love it. The quality of the photos is great, I replaced this with my kit lens....
