Longtime lurker, first time post. I've always appreciated reading GraphicFunks comments to others. Not only for his insightful critiques, but also for the obvious sense of class he exudes. Noticed he hasn't entered a challenge or participated in any threads for over a month. My apologies if this matter was addressed previously, I'm not a daily reader.

Thanks

I've wondered this myself. Anyone live close to Dan or have contact info?

I thought he has been out sailing his boat and just dropping in periodically when he gets on land.....I may be wrong tho...

I just dug up his phone number from an old email and left him a message to get in touch with me.

I believe after the sailing season ended he was focusing on music for a while. He'll be back. ;-)

He's sort of taking a break from DPC right now. We have very occasional communication. I have had relatively recent comments from him on a couple of my entries.

Just like the proverbial bad penny, he will turn up again. He has quiet spells, then you suddenly find a comment from him on your challenge entry.

FWIW, he did log in in the past few days.

Dan's comments are always a welcome treat and I value his above all others. Dan does not seem to enter just for the sake of entering, but rather when he has another stroke of genius!

Very bad manners on my side. Yes, I have been away from DPC and did not make a comment. First, I am fine and super well! Of course, I thank you for your inquiry. There is an individual who is a a Juliard graduate named Eddie who also sails. He laid off music a while and returned so I decided to go into a few musical projects. There will be more but within a week or so we will have finished this current episode.

My computer is geared for pictures and music but the music aspect occupies more space than you can imagine. You know many additional hook-ups and midi contraptions and recording hardware. So, without notice my pc went down. This was a nightmare. The sound card went bad and the computer got all messed up. Unable to do a restore through ms, I used the manufactures tools to do a partial restore, but again, the hardware issue (the sound card) has rendered the restore useless. I am pretty good with systems but windows keeps looking for its sound card and this prevents a return to normal. Yesterday I spent all day tinkering and window comes up only in safe mode.

Today I got an iMac and a new adventure begins here. Before me are two big projects: retrieving my old data from the pc and then getting the Imac to support my untold load of music software. I may even have to purchase windows to be able to have a dual operating system.

Sorry for the harangue, but to make it short: I miss you all. My return should be withinng a cou[le of weeks. Again, thank you very much for your inquiry. Be back soon.

Well I don't think that would do him justice now would it? Better make it minimal editing.

He can do it with minimal editing. That doesn't mean the rest of us can :-)

Uh-oh, better be careful or others will be jealous that they don't get a "Anyone know what happened to ____" thread.

Glad to know you are okay.

I was wondering as well, haven't seen any Graphicfunk entries in challenges and not even the Best of 2006, kept looking during the challenge and none showing, I'm very good in spotting Dan :)
Glad you're ok, hurry back!
