Darren,
I'm not sure what you are looking for.
If you are looking for competition this is probably not the team for you. The competitive teams are a part of WPL-they have this website. I believe the teams may be full.
If you are looking for fun though the League of Suck may be of interest.
Quoting our fearless leader, posthumous:
"This thread belongs to Team Suck, a ragtag group of militia... um... photographers who compatriate more than compete, more interested in winging than winning, in love than lustre.
We don't let a low score get in the way of a dream!
As our seditious philosophy gained ground, our ranks grew, until we became more than just a team. We became a league of teams in wholesome if not entirely serious competition with each other. And that's the way we all became Team Suck."
If you are interested, please write a short essay or poem, 50 words or less, as to why you want to join team suck and what the suck philosophy means to you.
-Mary |
Hey, don't forget the knitting option (not that anyone ever found out what the knitting option is, but it has something to do with knitting, I think) and a sonnet'll run to 140 syllables so you mi8ght get some leeway there.
Planting a tree or building a house requires extensive documentation.
But then, I don't decide. posthumous decides.

Congrats on the fav, Raish!
And stay warm to the icebound folks.
I think we scared off the new guy. :-( I can't see how we can possibly be scary. Odd, yes. But not scary. |

Eh, I figure you can get away with it. :-)
OK, got a headache, in a crappy mood - gotta question... is it worth my while to comment on stuff?
Yeah, yeah, I know the answer. I'm just whining. Ignore me. Carry on... |

Just wondering has anyone heard from Bryantbus the past few days?
I heard the town she lives in got hit hard with ice too.
So it would be good to know she is ok. |

I sure am glad that I squeaked in under the wire for the vetting process.....I can't do 50 words or less.
Just in case you hadn't noticed!

Uh, yeah. ;)
But you DID carry out the ritual with the chicken of pure heart, extra virgin olive oil, and a handful of sand, right? We're still waiting for the photo documentation.
*taps foot impatiently*
I'm thinking a photo essay should qualify, too.

Hey, in case you're interested in some great advice on shooting portraits, check out the responses I got when I asked for help on my Song Titles entry after voting ended:
//www.dpchallenge.com/forum.php?action=read&FORUM_THREAD_ID=529561
I highly recommend creating threads like that. I always get good advice.
As for the current challenges, I'm not hitting any particularly high notes this week, but I've managed to stay above 4 for a couple of months now.

Team Entropy needed another member and I recruited you while you were looking for a position in WPL. Trust me, you were vetted.
The process is a little different for those that wander into this thread and don't know what they are getting into.
Hey, you need to get to work and comment on the other suck team members entries in Procrastination, B&W, and Songs.

Posthumous, our kahuna nui, should be around later, and render an opinion or at least a word or two of wisdom.

Speaking of the Head Dude Guy, he may be a wee bit disappointed I didn't enter my originally planned shot for Motion Panning (ID=454534, if you're interested - I won't post it in deference to the no outtakes rules - it's in my workshop). It features - yes! - LENS FLARE!
I should have entered it, though. At least I would have garnered a comment with it. Sigh. |

Oh!
That was a directive?
I'm sorry, I didn't know that was totally serious.
I'm still reeling a little and milking the last few drops of argue from my B&W entry over on the Challenge Results Forums.
I *am* still new here, tell me what is expected of me.....am I supposed to look at all of the entries you posted, and (gulp) theoretically offer intelligent, constructive commentary?
This from the guy that y'all just helped me figure out how to set my camera to record jpegs whilst shooting RAW?
Is any of this working?????

Sort of is, really - not sure I'd go as far as to use the 's' word, but the temporary lapse of suck champ of the week gets to do that. Preferably before Post Traumatic Stress sets in. At least before it wears off :)

NOOOOOooooo! Let me commiserate in my new "scores turned off" life where all I do is watch that number after "Comments received" to see if it changes...
It doesn't very often. And still no comments.
And yes, Jeb, the weekly "Momentary Lapser of Suckiness" must go forth and comment on other Team Suck members' photographs. Usually it's from the challenges and Mary kindly posts them to make it easier. Other Team Suck members, even if they did just routinely suck that week, often comment on shots as well. And since you REALLY didn't suck, you can always pick stuff from portfolios, too. |

I have a few minutes between sessions at FOTOFusion, so I came to the library to check out my Match score. It's dropping a bit, as I expected, but still way above my personal best of 6.0.

But, YIKES, I've been asked for validation on my Battle of the Sexes. I can't imagine what I might have done wrong. I guess I'll find out soon enough. I'll send in the original when I get home tonight. It's not scoring very well -- 5.0 -- but still I don't want a DQ.
I've seen some awesome photos today, mostly photojournalism. But the first session was on PS tips. I learned a few things I'll share after I get that validation submitted tonight.
Gotta go. My time on the public computer is running out.

Griz, we lost power around 2 AM Saturday and just got it back last night. Some of my shots are posted at2007 PAD and my general photo blot. More will come later this week. I haven't had a chance to look at yours yet, but I will look after I go finish cleaning house. Now that I can see, there is a lot to be cleaned! It was no fun, but for us it is over--as long as our lights stay on. Bryantbus told me a while back that she would be out of town early this year, but I can't remember when. Hope she is OK where ever she is.
PS: My Match entry is still holding at 6.6 and even has 1 favorite. I am so behind on my voting, and don't have anything for this week's challenges yet. Best of 2006 is also still at 5.7. |

Don't sweat it, Brookied. No one's ever been turned away if there's room on a team. The essay thing is just to be sure you understand that "team" and "league" is used in a nonconventional way around here. We're not trying to beat each other, rather, we're here to support each other. Doing well is to be both cherished and a little bit teased. "Doing Well" also has only a passing connection to DPC scores.

I must admit I'm being confused by motion panning II. A lot of them to me don't look like panned shots at all. In fact, quite the opposite, they look like rock steady cameras. |
