I have everything hooked up with my two AB800 lights. The radio transmitter cant connect to my camera because the whole is two small, or something. |

You have it connected on the hotshoe? Then you don't need the cable.
Read the one-page instruction sheet that came with the transmitter. :)

what is a good way to position my two alien bee 800.. or I simply have to experiment?

Start by arranging them in a triangle pattern with your subject. Each light 45 degrees from the subject. That's the simplest two light setup.
