All this talk about what a great group of members we have-- and how we all look out for eachother....
What a bunch of of crap-- guess you have to have to be in with the in crowd..
I was in the hospital for over a week w/ pnuemonia (spelling?) and noone even sent a private message wondering where I was..
I just posted lastnite to a HDTV thread, and noone welcomed me back.
Shit, -- Where is the missing person report for me?
Noone even noticed that I was gone-- and Ive been a member for 5+ years now..
So for the greatness of this forum, Not so great...
And Im not whining or looking for sympathy, just kinda funny, noone even inquired..
Have fun w/your cool new cams.. and keep entering "Cliche" pics for ribbons, love ya all

huh? was that sarcasm or serious.
If you are gone for a month people might wonder where X is.. but a week??... not so sure.
It is probably also easier to notice when someone is not posting if that someone is your office mate, brother, or such.
amongst the thousands of members it is otherwise pretty hard to notice one is missing.

x=11 days, and if an active member is gone that long-- then usually its a flag, but like I said whatever-- I know where I stand now-- (aint like it used to be) |

Meh. There's one forum where anyone would notice if I didn't post for a week, and this definitely isn't it. Even on the other one, it'd probably be about 2 weeks before one guy *might* look up my phone number and call, and then another couple before I was 'fired' from being a mod there. That's a pretty small community (less than 20 regulars on that subforum), and with a huge one like this it's even less likely that people will notice IMO.
The thing with Steve Davidson last year was because his friend who usually talked to him all the time off of DPC noticed he had left, and told more people, etc. |

Sorry to hear you were ill Buzz;)
With Steve, people he knew well told us he was missing.
I've been busy with life and hadn't posted in months...and no one noticed...but I am sure if I posted saying I needed help people would be falling over themselves to help...and I'm not cool...chilly perhaps but not cool;)

Same here. Also, I've had two birthdays pass by and not a single thread about it! Grrrrrrrrrr. :P
Btw, in the case of stdavidson I believe it was just one user that knew something was wrong and started a thread about it so unless you know someone here that really knows your business I doubt you'll get a dedicated thread. Although I did post one a while back for shaileshivyas even though I don't really know him. I forgot what it was but something reminded me of him and I saw he hadn't posted in a while. Just one of those things.
ETA, glad you're doing better!

aww Buzz - sorry to hear you were ill. I've been so stressed out with my disastrous beginning of the new year that I had not noticed you missing - or anyone else for that matter.
I'm glad to hear you are out of the hospital and feeling better though.

Sorry to hear you were sick, Buzzrock. I'm another one that would never be missed except by a couple of people that I email regularly - but I don't post here that much, so... I think it's the people who post like 10 things a day that we really notice. There are so many of us! Anyway, I really do hope you're feeling better and hope that you stick around. |

Ummm, buzzrock, its a `community` of thousands & thousands of people. I read most of the forums pretty much everyday and dont really feel I know you, I am sorry to be harsh but I didnt notice you were gone, and I am not surprised no one else did, damn mate, it was only 11 days, I go for a crap for longer times than that :-)
It is a good community here, granted there are a few cliques that annoy me, I dont even have to name names as its pretty damn obvious, and they are on a popularity drive to become school president, I mean, site council :-) However myself and a few others on here just laugh and comment about them behind the scenes, which I guess makes me part of a clique as well?!?
Even the cliques are nice enough people though. Some of them even raise a laugh here..sometimes.
Seriously, if you had friends and family who were worried about you whilst you was in hospital, then surely that's far more important than a bunch of nice people you have only spoken to a couple of thousand times in generic community posts.
Also, you are not female, that goes a long way to being popular on this site.. >;-) as the guys here think they are in with a chance with you... lol.. sorry, couldn't resist..
sorry to hear you were unwell though. nothing too serious I hope.

I have had 4 birthdays whilst a member of this site with not even a `Happy Birthday Mark`, seriously. Its heart breaking, I bet no one even remembers that it is
MY BIRTHDAY TOMORROW, THAT IS, THE 17TH JANUARY, MY BIRTHDAY..
and it hurts man, it really hurts, I mean, I bet everyone will forget again that
I WAS BORN ON THE 17TH OF JANUARY.
but I really dont like to make a fuss about it..
All the best,
Mark DOB US Format -> 01/17/1975 UK Format 17/01/1975
