I'll be so annoyed if she kills Harry Potter for the sole reason of copyright. Doing so is unethical to your characters and besides just plain stupid because doing so won't accomplish J. K. Rowlings goal anyways.
If after her death her grandkid owns the Harry Potter rights they'll be able to simply write the story to bring Harry Potter back. (Not so hard in a magical fantasy tail like Harry Potter.)

Speaking from the standpoint of a Creative Writing major and (aspiring) novelist, I'll throw out there that the advice given to writers is actually: "kill your darlings." So I beg to disagree; killing him off wouldn't be unethical, if it remained true to the plot and story as a whole (although doing it for ONLY commercial reasons gets on thin ice, but I doubt that would cross any respectible author's mind.)
[rant] On a seperate note, I am so SICK of the Potter craze, and how the whole world comes to a hault every time a new book comes out. It's a KIDS book, for crying out loud - somewhat original and well written, but not worth camping out in front of stores or hijacking trucks to get. Needless to say, I will not be buying or reading this one. [/rant]

I do not think Harry Potter will die, but rather live to be the next Hogwarts Headmaster!!! Well, for a child's book, some pretty adult themes run through it. I will never be "sick" of this series.

| J.K. Rowling has known the ending of the whole series right from when she started to write it. I suspect that it has Harry standing triumphantly... (got to go...) |

If she kills him off (and I think she will, as well as he who shall not be named), so be it. I love the books. I can't wait for #7. But I think that there should be some closure.
