Both of these statistics are available via your profile page. A discussion in another thread, where a few members mentioned that they try to vote on ALL images in ALL challenges blew me away, and I had a look at their profiles. Sheesh. Talk about dedication to the ideals of the site!

Divide your votes cast by your votes received (votes cast/votes received). A number >1 indicates you have cast more votes than you have received, hence, your involvement in the site goes far beyond interest in how your own images perform, but that you are committed to participation for its own sake. Now granted, there are other possible interpretations, but this one seems reasonable to me.

The two individuals I checked on this morning as a result of reading that other thread were Kirbic and Alanfreed. Here are my numbers compared to them:

strangeghost 1.685
kirbic 10.108
alanfreed 2.400

Now Alan has entered more challenges than Kirbic by far, but Alan has cast over 122,000 votes (!). Kirbic's index is higher because he has voted so many more times than he has been voted for (entered fewer challenges).

What's your index number?

Who on the site has cast more votes than any other member??

I don't think it is that hard to get a number >1. Mine is at 2.94 which is more of a result of me not participating in that many challenges yet still voting on some of the challenges...

Yeah, Alan and Fritz are extremely dedicated individuals. And they are so quiet and fair about it. I really admire them.

Mine's abysmal, 0.37 :)

Their numbers for votes cast blow me away!

my voting ratio is 10.86, mind you, I have only been voted on for 4 challenges (and have two entries going right now).

I usually do vote on 100% of the challenges and try to make at least a few comments each time (my comment ratio, by your same calculations, is 4.46).

DPC for me is an opportunity for both inspiration and learning - voting on the challenges allows me to see what works and what doesn't, as well as find some amazingly creative ideas that I just could never think up on my own!

edit for spelling

4.2 for me. I've only entered ~13 challenges though. I've cast 11892 votes and received 2778 since ~6/2006

2.22 for me...

I try to vote on all images in all challenges (except the new "Expert Editing" ones)...

Eye opening! I've been in 96 challenges, and my number is 1.28. I vote in all the challenges, with the intention of voting on all the entries, but I almost always fall short :(

I'm going to try to do much better. I think I can squeeze more voting time in. I think I have some spare time between 2:00am and 3:00am most days :)

Interesting numbers so far. My guess is that it's easier to maintain a high ratio as a newer member (fewer challenges enter, plus "newcomer" enthusiasm for voting). This makes Kirbic's numbers all the more impressive...

3.17 for votes, with 15 challenges entered

You've been here for almost 2 years and you've only entered 2 challenges?

While the ratio is interesting, no question about it, as others have pointed out it can easily be skewed. If you enter few challenges and vote on more, you're gonna have a "good" ratio for sure. Another interesting statistic would be total number of votes given, perhaps divided by time-on-site.

In my case, for example, I have been a member for just over 2 years and have cast 53,989 votes. But in that time I have ENTERED 232 challenges, and have received 55,505 votes. So I have averaged approximately 2,250 votes per month in my time here... And I actually feel guilty because sometimes I skip voting on an entire challenge. There was a time a few months ago where I couldn't motivate myself to vote hardly at all, and that left me way behind...

Choosing the OP, strangeghost, as another example, he's been around approximately 32 months and cast 19, 620 votes for an average of about 613 votes per month... So his ratio is significantly better, but that's more a function of entering fewer challenges than it is of voting more times.

This isn't to say anything negative, of course; it's just that to my way of thinking votes cast/votes received isn't a particularly revealing statistic... And in a sense, even votes cast/time on site isn't especially revealing either; more than anything else, it's just a pointer to people like me who have a LOT of time on their hands and no family life to deal with anymore :-)

I get like that often and feel if I were to force myself to vote, I would only bring down the scores for everyone. I'll suffer a negative ratio.

Yeah, but the important thing is that it rocked Palmetto_Pixels' world!
