Took this in Sydney's Botanical Gardens yesterday and is my first real wildlife photography shot. Would be grateful for comments/critique.
Thanks :o)

Like the DOF - nice bokeh. A bit more of the face would be nice though.

not a bad first try, but keep in mind the backgrounds, it is good when the lines (horizons etc) do not intersect the animal : )

Considering your longest lens is 55mm, taking any wildlife photos is a tough challenge! That said, I think there is a lot of extra space around the bird that doesn't add to the shot. I took the liberty of doing a quick edit. I also did just a little burning of the *shadows* on the bird's body in an attempt to emphasize the texture of the feathers.

Another editing point... I think adding a touch of orange to warm it up a bit would look nice, as at the moment there seems to be quite a strong blue cast :)

I'm going to be honest because it helps me the most, its not very good.
It's a boring pose, no interest in the subject from there, it looks bland colour wise.
It's stuck in the middle of the frame, which just doesn't make it feel right and the background is very boring.
Looks like a snapshot.
Hope it's not too blunt but again, im just trying to help by being honest.

that's fair enough, i respect the fact you are being honest and I agree with most of what you said. Guess I can only get better from here, hey? ;o)
