This means your photo is pretty good. Mind you that 5.5 score does not mean that you are average. It means above average.
And in this challenge, its very good, because this is low scroing challenge.

Is it OK to leave a really sh*tty comment, for an image that has just been entered to waste time, for example, one that isnt Black & White or even a portrait?

If its not black and white and not even a portrait, i have given 1. No comments. (just do not want to hurt people).
But I must say there were some really good shots, my score of 5.3 sounds just to me compared to others. |

Mmmm....actually, if it's the photograph I'm thinking of, the gentleman responsible explained that it was a genuine error and apologized.
He has apparently been soundly thrashed repeatedly for it.
Perhaps when an entry is too far off the mark and appears to make no sense, the benefit of the doubt would be in order.
Why would anyone knowingly incur the wrath of indignant voters?
There's enough hostility and vitriol expended on genuine efforts.

Actually you'd be surprised at people who'll enter any shot they have in any challenge. There are quite a few people on this site who believe that you should vote on a photo based on technicals only and that the challenge doesn't matter.
I'm personally NOT one of those people. And believe that a photo should at least make an attempt to meet the challenge, I'm just saying that there are quite a few who don't think a challenge matters. |

I kinda find that hard to believe......what would be the point of being here then?
Even if someone thought that the challenge doesn't matter, it would seem odd that they'd think the rest of us don't.
