What's surprising to me is for such a low score and with such a large field of photos, that my photo has that many comments. It's funny! |

so yes, I should've paid a little more attention to it.
but I'm still not complaining about the score, so people do seem to like it.

I'm going to try and give constructive comments to the low scores I gave out. Just to show it's not a troll giving those scores. (in my case anyway)

I was yesterday at 5.9 and there is slide down ever since. With every vote the score goes down.
I was expecting 5.5. Eventhough I am little disappointed, but then its little different type of thing so some people liked it, some just hated it.
Hopefully it is a polarizing entry (lots of 1s and 10s).

First of all it's because I'm pretty new here. Second I don't have a lot of time, with working 40 hours (normal office job), photographing (for paying customers), and at the moment we're also rebuilding the kitchen drastically hahahaha! So I need to divide my time very carefully and unfortunately the fun photography comes in last place at the moment. I'm still working on an idea for the next open challenge, but it also takes time to brew up a nice concept. (and 6 days is a short amount of time then)

I got your comment however you gave me quite a high score and liked my shot... BUT... the rest of the world don't agree with you

I submitted the shot because I LIKE IT, screw the voters, the ribbons etc etc. It really dont understand why people complain about their score, sure I understand it is not nice to see your lovely shot sitting at 4 or low 5 but we are all here to learn, and I think that making such a fuss about it in a forum will NOT improve your photography. If you want a ribbon go study the type of shot that does well here at DPC and practice it, then sure enough you will get a ribbon one day. I prefer to take the kind of shot THAT I LIKE and enter it regardless of what the rest of DPC feel about it. If I get 1 FAV to me it means more than ANY ribbon, If I get 1 PM saying how great it was I am over the moon. If I get a 4.2 sure Im unhappy but I don't really care about it so long as I Liked it and posted it for that reason. come on people, it's 2007 ... SMILE!!!

You're joking MAK! Seriously?? I've only commented on two photo's so far, both high scores, so it'll have to be on of those two...in that case I don't understand voters....
both pictures are so great!
and yes in that case it's better to think "screw the voters, I like my picture no matter what any one says!"

Same thing here. I was in the 7's and now I'm at 6.63. It just keeps falling. :(

I can't quite understand this need for "revenge"...I find it a bit petty for a multi-ribbon winner to troll his votes just to make himself feel better???
Your 6.5 score is what 95% of the people in this challenge can only dream of. Your attitude in pulling scores down, hurts others, who will in turn start to vote angry..and so the result will be a generally unhappy challenge.
Maybe this time round your picture is just really not that good? But at 6.5 it seems to be making it to the top ten page.
I am busy following Puckzzz's example and am trying to write constructive comments on as many pictures I've rated 4 and below....maybe with all your experience and greater skill you could do the same to help those less fortunate in talent than yourself?
