I am signing up with a host and trying to think of a domain name. The site will mostly host the WPL but every domain name related to the WPL has been registered. I want a .com if possible.
Anyone care to help me think of a domain name? PLEASE!

what have you tried?
These show as available at godaddy.com

Dammit can't get the link to work.
Well just type WPL in the search and tons of good suggestions show up.

It's long but that's what bookmarks are for. I think it'll be easier to remember than most other "alternative" names. |

//wpl.net/ is a waste of domain...I hate people like this. Buy a good domain name, put a crap site on it. This isn't even a site..
Anyways the long name is just fine. Easy to remember. Easier to bookmark.

Go with the WORLDPHOTOGRAPHYLEAGUE.COM
It is much better than wplhome.com, mywpl.com or any of those others for this reason. Marketability.
Sure, mywpl.com is shorter than WORLDPHOTOGRAPHYLEAGUE.COM...but what the !@#$ does it mean?
If I saw mywpl.com it would cause zero interest in me. I have no clue what it is and there is no bait on it. If I saw WORLDPHOTOGRAPHYLEAGUE.COM then I'd know it was related to photography. Now my interest is peaked.
A lot of people think the shortest names are better. Not so...the best names are the one's that meet two criteria:
a) easily remembered
b) easily spelt (no ambuiguity)
WORLDPHOTOGRAPHYLEAGUE.COM meets both of those criteria thus it has good potential to be successful. If someone sees a bumper sticker that says WORLDPHOTOGRAPHYLEAGUE.COM on their way home from work. They have a good chance of remembering it when they get home from their daily commute. Even a few days later there is a good chance to recall the name.

Saj makes a great point. Also, with bookmarks these days, you rarely type in a domain anyway. Maybe the first visit or two, then you bookmark and you never type it again and the length of it doesn't matter.

For most sites I don't even bother with bookmarks. URL auto-completion usually shows it within a few letters.
I never select DPChallenge from bookmarks. In fact, I am not even sure I have it bookmarked. In fact, all I have to do is type "d" and the first entry shown is DPchallenge.com

Thanks everyone. I went with
WORLDPHOTOLEAGUE.COM
and using Dreamhost. It will be a few days before all is setup and I can start building the site.

I have a lot of bookmarks, but my favorite sites, the ones I visit daily, are in my "Links" toolbar and auto load in Firefox the instant I load the browser. It's a great feature. :-)
