I'd like to upgrade to a DSLR - I live in the sticks a long way from major camera shops - I've aeen a 350D for £350 locally with the 18-55mm kit lens - i like landscape photography and some portrait and macro

Reading previous threads this eems like a good camera but to be honest the detail in some threads makes my head spin - so I'll keep it simple - if i buy this camera at this price am i going to regret it ? will the price tumble soon ? is there some prfoundly superior camera available at the same price ?

I don't expect another price drop soon, there's been one when the 400D's been released. It's a nice camera if you're only just entering the DSLR world. You might want to have a look at what Nikon offers in the same price range, and see what suits you best.

<==== Just bought a Rebel XT a few days ago to replace my Rebel... no, I don't think you will regret it one bit. Well, excepts for the fact that you will develop a lens addiction.

Nikon rulz.

Edit - Seriously, pursue, explore, and examine the specs carefully before you make a decision. Lens availability isn't the only thing in the world. I thought it was. Nothing WRONG with Canon, the "entry level" stuff just leaves off a lot of things that Nikon doesn't, and I wouldn't make the same decision today that I did a year ago.

The nikon D70s kit is (more or less) at the same price level
both cameras are very capable but the nikon kit gives U a much nicer lens

I would personally save and get a XX over a XXX series Canon even if the XX was used and the XXX was new. The XXX cameras are too small and a little annoying to use with their menu system, LCD, and controls. If you have small hands though the size may not be an issue.
