i have a sigma 24-70 f2.8, and for some reason the i can not manual focus. when i turn the focus ring nothing happens, it just turns and turns. the weird thing is that the auto focus works fine.
anybody got any ideas???
thanks in advance

A quick search on google uncovered this forum post, which includes:
"Focus ring is awkward -- to set it to manual focus, you need to set the switch AND pull the focus ring back towards the camera."

^^ that's what i was gonna say. other thing is it isn't good to let the autofocus do it's thing if both the barrel and the switch aren't set to AF.

i will try that later.
it suprizes me that the auto focus is working at all, but its working fine. i would however like to know how to focus manually in advance the a/f not working as i would want it to.

the weird AF/MF switching is one draw back to the sigma line - but the money saved over canon glass sort of makes it worth while...
