You're um......of my generation, yeah that's how I can say it!.....8>)

Do you by any chance remember the cartoon lemmings in National Lampoon?

They would have these discussions with others and then just fling themselves over the edge wherever they were for no apparent reason......then they'd grumble about it...

They had this whole genetics/conditioning thread going on for years talking about lemmings throwing themselves off cliffs.

The magazine even did a Woodstock parody that threw in the mass suicide theme.

It was hilarious.

I think about it every time I'm doing something that makes me nuts; I know it makes me nuts, yet I do it anyway....8>)

Best I can tell is this means "Out of the box", yes? No fair making fun of the woman living in Germany who doesn't speak German.... (yet)

Thanks, Chris - very kind of you. And if you haven't anything to enter an the open challenges, skip it. Shoot for the next one. And shoot just to shoot, too - don't forget that part.

It's just a "For Posterity" thing 'cause I really haven't gotten close to this EVER!!!!

If that's in Procrastination, that's in top ten territory. That's a significant accomplishment! I've been at this for over a year now and haven't been there. That's seriously way cool.

And I have a correction to my nomination for Yappies - I think I said Larus had commented in Fireworks and Fences - it was Fireworks and Harsh Environment. I think he may have commented on all of Harsh Environment but I haven't checked. e301's comments (and there were a lot of them) were very constructive comments made in Free Study.

Nothing for me this week, due to an extreme lack of inspiration. I'm hoping for some better exclusive challenges after tomorrow's rollover because, at the moment, I have no "update" button :(

I've got what I hope to be some shots I can use for song titles.

Any who's entering battle of the sexes, care to toss out some of your extra ideas? :)

I used babelfish, so I wouldn't be 100% certain it was right.

Think of it as encouragement.

Try to think of it as encouragement?

i've still got my fingers crossed for you!

i think i've only seen my score higher than that once. it was after the very first voter and after that it took a nose dive.

if you're there this late in the challenge then it's smooth sailing.

congrats!

never ever mistake honesty for kindness Deb, even if you're being humble.

you deserve the compliment. you are good at what you do. your perspective shot blew me away.

Wow, you may have a ribbon there! After 100 votes, it's not likely to change by more than 0.2 or so, so you're just about assured of beating your previous personal best by a full point!

Congrats!

Hey Jeb, congrats on that super score. That is absolutely incredible and you probably are close to a ribbon.

I kind of know what it feels like, I'm up for my highest score ever. Not as high as yours but still really good. I'm just glad it ends tonight.

congrats to everyone on the great high scores!

so, i have a dilemma; should i submit a pretty pic, landscapey, sunset type of thing to the best of, or shoudl i do one of my usual, dark things?

choices choices

i've not gotten a high score in three challenges... i'm thinking about going out and taking a picture of the san francisco skyline at sunset and entering it into any challenge.

I certainly appreciate the kind words and wishes.....the trolls still have five days to vote!

I gotta tell you, I will be happy with a top 50 finish, much less where this thing appears to be going.

And again....6.8491!!!! As of 5:10

DUDE!!!

That's an awesome score!!!!

You should be all weird like me about that!

My score on that one went streaking up from a 5.1 to a 5.2 today.

Funny thing....at the very beginning, I had just over a 6, but then it went away......sigh.....

The 5.1 is still like my 4th highest to date, so I'm still happy with that one too.

HEY!!!

Team Suck brings me good luck!!!

Hey nikonjeb, I was just looking through your portfolio and noticed "Framed Moon"! Do you have an entry for Best of 2006 yet? That is a great shot.
01/09/2007 07:16:35 PM · #670
I have to apologize to team suck, for being a bit quiet, although I have been lurking in the shadows. Thursday my 16 year old decided to run away, the day before my wife had surgery on her leg and foot. So to say stressful, would be a understatement. Things are better now, son found, foot given the (its healing right) today by the Dr.
I did get something fine tuned for best of. And tonight I will do a self portrait for B&W portrait, ( Iâve been wanting a picture for my Profile). And now I find both Bob, and Jeb are also getting best personal scores âcongrats guysâ . I promise to get back into the swing of things.

I would most certainly have given you a comment and a good score if I had voted on Fireworks. Please be aware that I will never, ever vote on a Fireworks challenge, or a battery challenge, or an automobile challenge, or a piece of turd challenge, but especially not a Fireworks challenge.

My suck thoughts are with you, alan. I'm glad things tidied up alright.

I am going to start a thread awarding yappies to Larus and e301 and an OOBIE to Melethia.

Yeah.. one challenge, after my score had leveled, it then dropped and kept dropping after 100 votes - dropped basically an entire point from the "leveled-out" score to the final score.

Good luck to you!!

Wow, that DOES sound stressful. Glad things are better and I hope that they continue to get even better.

Alan, Hope things settle down and become boring. Sounds like you've had enough excitement to last a year! We'll be thinking about you.

It's weird... these type of shots are described as "risky" and honestly this is the only challenge entry of mine that I can describe as "having done well" (not to me, but as far as general opinion goes)
