It's a manual focus lens, that is for sure. AFAIK, it will mount on the D50, but you will not be able to meter.

It will fit, but no focus or metering with the D50 - You (and me) need a d200 for metering with manual lenses

I've actually got a similar 50m 1.4 lens which is a bit older than that one - it works beautifuly for some types of photography.
One of the wonders of digital photography is that metering isn't so important, you just fire off a few test shots and you should be able to work out the correct exposure pretty quickly. Which is great for static subjects, not so good for action.
It's also the prefect lens to reverse mount onto a newer lens and use for reverse macro shots. That way you keep the metering and focusing of the newer lens and get some killer macro shots.

Or if you used a camera from a real brand you'd be able to meter with anything ;)
