Lets see here. We have Basic, Advanced, Expert is on the table. What would we think of a 'Purest' rule.
Purest editing rules,
You May clean dust spects and Only dust spects
You May Rotate image
You May Crop image
You May NOT edit any other way.
Standard resize for uploading applies.
Most all digital cameras have a b/w setting, so if you would like to take a b/w image it has to be done in camera.
I was thinking of this because well Not everyone is happy with the expert rule set currently on the table. Also, we hear constant talk of how digital manipulation is changing 'true' photography.
So, if this rule set is used, it keeps things to the very bare of 'traditional' photography.
am I way off base here, or is this something some of you out there may like?

If you want this to be a useful rule set, you also have to add "original file must be JPG" ΓΆ€” You can do all SORTS of editing to a RAW file...

Because even the most traditional of photographer I have talked to, cleans dust spects off their prints, and also wants to beable to crop/rotate compose their image.

So "get it right in camera" applies to everything except composition? Sheesh... Composition is the one thing everyone should be able to get right :-)

True, but to keep things pure.....it would be the yin to the yang with the Expert edit rules.

That was the idea the yin to the yang with expert.
As with the straight from the camera, they have had challenges like that, yes. So if the concenus of this idea, is to change it purely to straight from the camera thats fine, I was just adding a little leway.

Judging from CJ's post in the admin thread that introduced the expert set, it sounded like they were hoping to implement something similar to this sometime in the future. Who knows... |
