Hi Friends,
Itâs that time of year again when I ask for support for Team Rebecca of the AHA Heart Run & Walk Event, Utica NY (to be held March 3rd). This event is near and dear to my heart. My sister Rebecca was born with a congenital heart defect. In 1974 she was diagnosed with Tetralogy of Fallot and Pulmonary Atresia.
Becky had an experimental surgery in 1974, simply to âexperimentâ and to give this 6yr old a few more years of life. Dr. Shaher said âRebecca was not correctable; but perhaps in 20 years research will find a way to correct her condition.â How amazingly accurate this prediction proved to be. In Oct 1994, there finally was a new procedure that could correct her heart defect and she was surgically repaired. In 1997, she underwent a third Open Heart to repair some stitches that the patch had pulled loose. If you would like to read more about Rebecca (from her perspective) please visit her page.
My sisterâs heart had to wait 20 years for technology to catch up to her. The goal of âTeam Rebeccaâ is to make sure that someone else doesnât have to wait.
Please make a secure donation through the AHA via this link.It will go directly to AHA and credit Team Rebecca. Team Rebecca prides itself on being a major fundraiser by simply asking for ONE Dollar. (just fill in the box that says âOtherâ. )
We are also having a Fundraising Benefit on Feb 17th , which includes 50/50 raffles, Chinese Auctions, etcâ¦.if you would like to donate anything for our fundraiser please PM me.
Team Rebecca has a goal of $4000.00 and my personal goal is $1000, of which I have $483.00 so far. Please consider donating the spare change you have in your pocket. If you make a larger donation I will gladly place your name in the rafflesâ¦..please advise via PM of your preferences.
Last year my friends at DPChallenge collectively donated $175.00!! much to my amazement!!!
From the bottom of my heart, I THANK YOU!!
With love, Melissa

Just a question: since we are a site of artists, would art prints be welcomed for you to auction at the fundraiser benefit?

Yes they would...I'd love it...
Please let me know in advance as I would like to promote it in advance of the benefit...
Last year we raised about $700.00 at the benefit....(it also was the first one we ran, so hopefully we will get it more organized this year) we also had it on the worse storm day of the winter last year, but couldn't plan that!!

While I can't afford to donate any money, I'd be happy to reduce any of my prints on DPC Prints down to base price so that you can get them as cheap as possible and auction them off :) Good idea Leroy!
This one may be of particular interest :)

I'll also donate all profits I make from selling that print in Jan and Feb :)
So if anyone wants to buy it, use my referral link //konador.dpcprints.com to make sure 75% of the price gets donated rather than the usual 50% :) |

A while ago, Langdon made a checkbox which allowed anyone who wanted to easily divert their DPC Prints profits to the specified charity (was that hurricane relief?).
Perhaps you can request that something similar be set up again for a month or two, so that it can all happen automatically. |

good idea GeneralE....
Here is the direct link to the American Heart Association Kintera page crediting Team Rebecca. Funds go directly to AHA, but applies the fundraising credit to Team Rebecca.

It was just brought to my attention that the AHA link is not allowing manual input of smaller donations (>$25.00). I am awaiting a call from the AHA to rectify this as this is something they have recently changed.
I did not want anyone thinking that I was luring them in to a larger donation, as we really do only ASK for spare change....
I registered a TEAM REBECCA - American Heart Association paypal account if anyone wants to use that, please PM me for the login.
I'm sorry for the inconvenience and I will update when I get an answer from AHA.
thanks for bumping this Erin.
to actually keep it separate from my paypal account...

Please still help exceed my goal of $1000.00. Thank You!
